To add to the speculation...i've been trying to think of which potential headliners would fit the beach vibe. Do you think Frank Ocean would be big enough to headline?
And I know it probably won't happen, but I think Bon Iver would be a PERFECT act to headline on the beach.
My preference for third Chevy closer is avett bros. I've wanted to see them for a while now and it just hasn't been in the cards. I think they're a likely add also. I think Phoenix would be a solid third headliner.
Do y'all remember who the biggest lineup addition was last year other than RHCP? The only one I remember was umphreys but I honestly don't remember any others.

Kaskade, Umphrey’s McGee, Delta Spirit, Heartless Bastards, Greyboy All Stars, and Givers -- from an AL news mag, so you're right- love me some Greyboy though.
This years undercard is much better though, so who knows.
Everyone can ignore my post about the reunited return rock band, p-dog reminded me that righteous was just fucking with us anyways, so, yeah.
Also- pit or no pit who gives a fuck neither is "better" its all about personal preference.
Considering they seem to be going more for diversity with this lineup, what do you all think the chances are they finally go for a hip-hop/rap 3rd headliner?
...just don't see why the 3rd HL would be any band with already announced dates....and if someone backed out, I don't think they would have guaranteed another HL(which they can't be sure of), they would have just bumped Trey up. It's someone who hasn't announced a tour and/or album yet....aka Prince.
I can't believe Phoenix can headline, but I was shocked by Arcade Fire a few years ago too.

Outkast is probably not going to happen but I will not stop praying until the 3rd headliner is released

Outkast would be pretty clutch. Wouldn't be baffled by a Jay-Z/Kanye addition though
If they were going for a big alternative act from the original Lolla era (another Foos/RHCP) for the third, I think it would have been Green Day and they would have been announced today. So for those of you freaking out, Hangout is probably in the clear.

I think it will be a Phoenix-like headliner
311 would fit the bill perfectly. Don't know if they'll pursue them with slightly stoopid already in the lineup though. Incubus would be the obvious answer but, as has been well established already on this thread, they are on indefinite hiatus
I think it'll be something totally out of left field. I really do.... I mean, there has to be a reason they kept it so secret.
I couldn't agree with you more. Wouldn't be surprised if its an act nobody has even thought of mentioning on this thread.
They could pull a complete 180 and book Metallica. Then again, they could keep it simple and go for (let's hope not) Jason Mraz.
Once again however, we're back to the main problem with this thread: nobody really has a quacking clue what HMF wants or thinks they can get at this point
You guys are way off track. You can clearly see on the poster thats it's a band with a long name, and will be the 3rd billed headliner. So it will NOT be an act that is bigger than KOL. It's Mumford and Sons. And no one backed out their just saving a headliner and a couple of names to compete with the Roo announcement next week.

I disagree completely. First off you can't clearly see anything about the 3rd headliner its blurred (might not even be a name behind the blur yet) and I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for them to change the order of the lineup I mean if they ad any other undercard bands they're going to have to do that anyway.
haha "a band with a long name smaller then KOL" hahaha Even if Mumford is the 3rd headliner I would say they are as big as KOL at least they are more in right now but thats just my opinion
Also why try and compete with the biggest music fest in America (Roo) when you are a fest that cant have more then 35,000 people. They sold out last two years going to sell out this year even if the lineup was complete they would sell out
I saw The Strokes open for Pearl Jam at PJ20 and QOTSA were the third band. I thought QOTSA blew The Strokes away and should of been the 2nd headliner. I was not impressed with them at all. My guess is Mumford and Sons as the 3rd headliner as I like the idea that they waited because of Bonaroo and it just makes sense to hold back one "big" band as there are two different price levels left. That must be the reasoning between an "advanced" ticket and a "regular" ticket if not what does "advanced" mean as the show is only 13 weeks away. I also like Dispatch as the band to close the Chevy stage. I know they were there last year but the are doing the festival run this year with only a few solo dates and the closest festival to HO is Waka. I'm in the minority as I like KOL and Tom Petty so I am already happy either way. Anything beats being in CT just after a blizzard.

KOL is listed as playing 5/17 on their website. So if they are the Friday headliner and Petty makes sense to be the Saturday headliner, we are looking at a Sunday headliner as the mystery.

My money is on Petty being Sunday. Great way to close out the fest.
Such BS! I got on at 10 a.m. on the dot to buy the $209 GM tickets and it said they were "not available!" Cost me an extra $40. At least I'm close enough to walk to the condo and drink.

I logged in at 10 AM. I guess I was lucky to get 2 tickets for $209 each. Also picked up two shuttle passes. I live 20 minutes from the festival site and don't mind using the shuttles since they fixed that problem last year.
This makes sense. Saw him in 2010 and glad I got the opportunity to see such a legend, but honestly would be fine with never seeing him again. Oh well, i'm happy with the lineup as is.
So, Ebony but no Ivory. A bit of a letdown but I'm firmly in the "anyone but Mumford" camp.
I'm also hoping for an Avett add as a 2nd stage closer as that would also likely mean OCMS as a 3rd stage performer. Seems doubtful now though as I can't see why they wouldn't have been on the initial release.

I'm glad I saw Stevie at Bonnaroo, but I would be fine with never seeing him again. However, I am cool with the other headliners, so this is a non issue for me.
I'm looking forward to the festival and it's going to be awesome no matter who they add to the lineup.
