The highway tollbooth is actually not a real exit. It is a turnoff a little east of exit 111. Also, you may or may not be able to go in through it. It is up to the law enforcement routing traffic. My first year, we were in a caravan, and the first three cars were routed to that exit. After the third car, we were directed up to exit 111. When a friend tried to follow the first three cars in, he was told very directly by the trooper that we were going to exit 111 and he was not asking.
Yeah, that happened to me in 2010. The THP's sole objective is to get you off the road so that they can go home. They are generally nice and accomodating but it is critical that you not argue with them about routing; they are working crazy long days and will likely have a low BS threshold.
On a side note, if you're approaching from the west (which you are), you will have to go all the way down to Exit 127 (that's right: 16 miles) to turn around and get back in line from the east. If the eastbound line is really long, you can go up the Cumberland Plateau and turn around in Monteagle (Exit 134-ish).

Only been able to get in through that exit one out of four times. But, we did get the best of all our camping spots after getting in through that exit.
Are you saying the back road way would put us in BFE?
if you arrive weds night, expect to be parked in BFE.
No, we're arriving Thursday..mid morning hopefully! Gonna leave NC tomorrow evening, drive half way (or about 3-4 hours) then get up and drive the rest of the way Thursday morning.

not sure about the backroad tollbooths, but if you enter thru the 112 exit off i-24 on thurs morn or afternoon, you should be able to avoid BFE.
Thanks Judge!! lol...I know it's always a crap shoot...but I've never tried the back roads so thought I'd give it a try this year!! Either way BONNAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Not sure the exit number, but coming from Chattanooga there is one exit where the interstate dips down into Georgia. There is a good gas station/rest stop at that exit. It's where our caravan is meeting up
Thanks for the input! I'm coming in fairly late Thursday(prob not til around 4) and I think the highway was all cleared up by that point last year. The thing that kinda stinks, is our friends are coming from the west, so we don't want to make them drive too too far east. Prob gonna end up playing it by year, right in Manchester may turn out to be our best bet.
