As you have probably deduced by the thread title and the time at which I am posting, I will not be attending Bonnaroo this year and I must admit, I am kicking myself for it.
To those of you in a similar boat as me, how are you holding up and what acts are you really missing?
And to those who are lucky enough to get internet access on the farm and feel like trolling Inforoo, is 'Roo as good as it always is?
I am in the same boat. Attended four of the last five years but can't make it this weekend because of work.
Two of the main acts I wanted to see, however, I was able to catch the last two weeks. The Roots at Jazzfest at UCLA and last weekend Flying Lotus at Red Rocks. That has helped ease the pain a bit!!
Me too, Did/Doing Hangout and Lolla instead. It is sad not being on the Farm. Atleast, we have webcasts. Disappointed with missing Phish, Das Racist amfd Joy Formidable. Everyone else, I can catch at another fest.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

I have been the past 5 years straight, so not being there this year is killing me. I chose Lollapalooza instead this year because I think the line-up is better, but it's just not the same as the Bonnaroo experience.
I got to see Radiohead in Cincinnati on Tuesday, but I'll definitely be watching their webcast, as well as The Civil Wars' webcast.

I've been 3 of the 5 past years. It's a 15 hour drive for me and at the time gas prices were $4 a gallon. Couldn't think I could afford it. I also wasn't stoked on the headliners.
Thankfully Firefly Festival is happening in my back yard
Well I'm still going this year but not going till Friday. I have to work. This will be my 8th roo. I have been every year since 2004 except 2009. I remember how bad I hated not going in 09 but it was a good reason i couldn't (my daughter was born the month before roo). Right now I am sitting at work and all my friends are there sending me pictures and making fun of me for being at work. At least I get to go though. Maybe you guys will get back on the train next year.

Last year was only my first 'Roo, but I'm too bummed to be missing out this year. All my friends bailed at the last minute and I just couldn't afford a solo trip. And I'm not all that happy about missing Phish, Bon Iver, City & Colour to name a few.
This is the first time I'm missing Roo in 5 years. I just can't handle the heat anymore. I always get sick for at least a month after the festival. The last two years, I've developed bronchitis from the dust. Another reason I'm skipping this year is the cost. I can't afford it. I actually couldn't afford it the years I went but I went anyways and was broke for months afterwards. I still wish I was going though. Despite the fact that I was miserable from the heat and completely broke, I had a lot of fun. I got to see many bands that I wouldn't have been able to afford to see otherwise. Some bands, such as Buffalo Springfield or The Police, were once in a lifetime opportunities for me. Their tours didn't come anywhere close to me and, even if they did, the ticket prices would have been too high for me anyways. There are a few bands like that at Bonnaroo this year. I am bummed that I'm missing The Beach Boys and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Beach Boys tour doesn't come anywhere close to Minnesota and the RHCP are going to be here in October but ticket prices are too high. Most of the other bands playing this weekend that I want to see are touring in the area this summer and ticket prices are pretty affordable (if only I could come up with the money). I would still rather see those bands on the farm. Maybe I'll get back to Roo next year.
The fact that the weather is perfect there right now is what's killing me. I'd give anything to have a Roo where it's not 80 degrees in my tent at 7am. That extra sleep goes a long way to feeling refreshed and energized. Looks like this might be the year for just that.

I'm in the same boat, except I'm waiting on a friend who has to work half a day friday...i'm telling him every excuse I can think of, but he's still going to work on friday...i picked up my wristband this afternoon and they went ahead and put it on me, so it is torture sitting at home knowing where I could be...I have about the same drive as you do too...the only reason I'm waiting on him is so we can have more camping space, but I may just go in tomorrow morning and tell him he can find me there!
Ally I hear you about the dust. Unfortunately we aren't there either (been there every year since 08), although the feeling after Roo doesn't factor too much into it. But yes, the heat and dust last year really had me rethinking things after Roo. I developed bronchitis as well and could not shake the dry cough for about a month. But it does go away eventually, and it's like a bad breakup. After awhile all you remember are the good times
Bummed I'll be missing Bon Iver, Feist, and Tune-Yards. Most everyone else I've seen or can see locally. I think I pick those 3 because seeing them at Roo would be so much better to me.

Well, I am officially not attending this year. I am going to have boatloads of fun this weekend anyway, though. And I won't feel like shiz like I usually do while I'm there haha.
EDIT: The only part I really feel sad about is missing Radiohead II. Since Thom Yorke described the first one as one of their best, and I missed that one, too. I feel a little sad about missing Phish, I feel like I should be there for that. These are the glory days. You, me, Thom Yorke and Trey Anastasio are all gonna be ugly old washed up people before too long. No one can replace us!!!!!!!!!
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
I am just stoked I will be off work just in time to catch Radiohead's webcast. A little HDMI from my laptop to the big screen in my living room and let the viewing begin!! Plus getting to watch any roo concert in the air conditioning and with your pets is win!!!

I got an internship in Seattle a few weeks back. It was too good to pass up, but I had to sell my Roo tickets at the last minute to some friends. The webcast is nice, but mostly depressing.
Decided to switch it for Coachella and Lolla this year. I figured, once I saw the lineup, that I wouldn't really miss it. But damn, I'm getting quite nostalgic. Last year was my first Roo and I had the best time. I just keep thinking back on the farm and the people I met, I guess there's always next year...
i've only been to two but i feel totally lost not being there this weekend!!! been having fun following everyone on twitter and fb tho and got to fall asleep to the live feed of Radiohead so that's kinda the same right??? right???? hello????
I didn't see this thread until today because I've avoided the boards for almost a year. I found out I couldn't go and it made me all sad and junk to read about it lol. Making up for it next year by going VIP for the first time! I wish I would've come sooner to wish everyone a happy roo!
