Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Okay, I just wanted to say who ever put the LEDs on the Cuckoo Roo Clock, Fucking great idea! This is the kind of things Bonnaroo needs to take it to the next level. I have for long spoken that Bonnaroo needs more art. The music is great, so audio stimulation is covered. The food, (I love the food trucks!) is some of the best I have had, so we have that sense covered. Visual stimulation is where we are lacking. I want to push this more! I want more art projects! More cool things to look at. Ask anybody who spent any amount of time around me and I am all about visual stimulation. Well, I am all about stimulating all the senses, but Roo is lacking in the visual area. Do not get me wrong, there are many beautiful people their, but I am not talking about that. I am talking about Art or what I am calling Farm Art.
I know who reads this! Lets talk about it. I have ideas, lots of ideas! I know others are out there, people who are more skilled and more dedicated to their craft than I am. I know there are others threads about how Roo lacks in the "Art department". I think the recent additions to the Cuckoo Roo Clock is proof our voice is being heard. At least I hope so. ;D
Thank you Madeline for this picture. The Cuckoo Roo Clock was covered with thousands of Total Control Lighting LEDs. That means each LED can be control independently of every other LED. With a computer, one could put anything on the Clock's screen. TBH, this is a very large display of this technology. Which is not cheap. Which means Roo has "visual stimulation" in their budget.
LETS GET MORE ART ON THE FARM!!!
come here and talk about Farm Art topics like:
the awesome Cuckoo Roo Clock!
art projects and ideas you have or would like to show?
what Art would you like to see on the farm?
any local artist or non local artist?
what does art do for you?
got any pictures? Post them!
or anything related to Farm Art.
Nice work Bonnaroo, very nice, Thank you for the Cuckoo Roo Clock tower LED screen, it looked amazing, but you know we can do more, so let us help you, help us! ;D

i can't speak for past 'roos, but it seems like it would be great to get some of those giant copper sculptures they bring out for things like coachella and burning man. this year that probably wasn't possible because they were at edc which was occuring the same weekend in vegas, but it would be pretty cool to get them to come out next year! or something similar..
Didn't they used to have a giant fire performance? I want that instead of the water slide.
With the smoke rings? Yeah, I believe they were set off around where the splash a roo is now.
It was pretty cool to see, and might be good where the expansion has occurred.
One thing I thought about this year: those glow in the dark stars and moons and constellations you see in kids' rooms placed on the inside roof of this, that, and the other tents. During the night time it might be cool to see while in the tent. Maybe a different theme in each tent?
One of my gripes about this year's LN is there were none of those acts where balloons are released from that underbelly area. I know: sustainability and waste, etc. And to be fair, I'd say Skrillex would've been that set to have it. There was enough going on there to not need balloons.
Here are the two things I was talking about. If they were to incorporate something interactive in Centeroo I think it would be a vast improvement on the "Art" part of the festival.
Also. The clock tower in theory is a great idea. But when you are camped 50 feet from it and it goes off it's very startling. It caught me off guard every time.
I was thrilled to see all the new, colorful lights added to the farm this year. . .
- Clock tower - Arch design - Pod 2 art with spot lights
I hope they bring it all back next year and add even more!
What did they end up doing with POD 2? My friend Mike and I walked by it Thursday afternoon and it looked like they were constructing a small city in there. But we never made our way back to it.

There were two walled off areas in the trees both with stages and small performances. One was the Pod 2 art set-up, the other was some area sponsored by GAP that gave away free juice drinks and t-shirts to paint on.
The Pod 2 art set-up had all sorts of color changing LED's, the old light up fire-flies, some other lights, as well as some jumbo sized furniture and wood water droplets you could climb in.
The Gap area had more color changing lights, and as mentioned the juice and t-shirts. I caught an awesome performance from Hey Rosetta back there one night.
Scrog, how many times were we admiring that clock tower this weekend? At night, it never ceased to awe and amaze ;D
I want to see more performance artists roaming the farm, kind of like you have at Ren Fairs where everyone is in character, only better! It makes the experience! I believe most people want to participate, but just need "pulling in".
The "Big-Daddy Jellyfish" we saw at Phish Sunday night was a good example! Just think if Bonnaroo recruited more people like this!

I caught the art thing for pod 2, it was insane!! Wooden structure with purple light coming out, you go inside and I saw fire dancers and some guy playing saxophone with effects. Anybody see this? it was awesome!!
me and zacd met 1 of the guys workin on the clock tower LEDs. Definitely an awesome addition and also loved the Bonnaroo arch as well.
I agree visual stimulation could still be helpful. Something interactive like the Sonic Forest would be much appreciated. I'm bummed I didn't see the POD 2 setup now...
Wish I would have made it out to POD 2, sounds like they had some cool stuff out there! I would love to see more fire on the Farm, but I think there might be some insurance issues with that. IDK, but fire performers seems like the least expensive way to increase visual stimulation on the Farm. I love me some fire! ;D Are there any local Fire conclaves in TN or surrounding areas?
The pyramid in VIP was cool, but it was locked away in VIP, so only we got to appreciate it, but still cool to look at. We are bringing art to the masses!
Sugar, I agree. People in costumes, like the big Daddy Jellyfish is exactly what I want to see more of! I want more of us to "participate" and not just be a ticket buyer, but that is a longer conversation.
Today, we start this process! I say we, because for this to happen, there needs to be a "we", not just a "me" or "I", but we need to come together and we can make this happen. We have 51 more weeks to go! For this, I will be pulling a lot from what I saw at Burning Man and the art I saw there. In 2009, I saw this art piece called the Cubatron. It was at Coach a year ago and needs to be on the farm! Basically the Cubatron uses the same technology as the TCL LEDs found on the tower this year.
So you take one of these
and you expand it and make one of these.
This video does no justice to the awesomeness of this art piece.
Mark Lottor @gmail is the Artist and I say let him know we want him on the farm next year!

My first year in 2005 there were people dressed like Power Rangers or something wandering all over the place squirting water with supersoakers and behaving like ninja mimes. I've never seen them since. I always laugh when I think of walking through the arch and seeing them sneaking around along the fence.

Am I the only person that doesn't miss The Art of Such and Stuff?
I am confused by this statement. Did you not like what they put out or of you think there should be less art all together?
If this was that display where you looked in those little holes, then yes, I dont miss that at all. I waited in line forever and was completely underwhelmed.
