Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
With the drama I've heard about POD 1 campers being stuck there Wednesday night and not able to leave for Tent Only or the rest of the farm. . .
Considering the traffic and logistics that it sits apart and is in close proximity to VIP, All Access, etc. . .
Considering the noise and exhaust from the generators of RV campers can be annoying if you are camping GA right next to them. . .
PETITION TO MAKE POD 1 RV CAMPS ONLY
It would also eliminate the uncertainty and worry of whether you as a GA camper will get stuck out there. If you do RV you'll know where you're gonna be.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Again, "petitions" on this message board don't accomplish anything. Much like the complaints about opening up the Which stage to avoid crowding on Thursday this is much more likely to catch the attention of Bonnaroo if there is a coordinated effort to get the message across.
Plenty of people can come here and say "signed" or "add me to the list" but in the end that's all this will become.
To really try to make some change we need to come up with a strategy of how to contact bonnaroo. Everybody sends the same e-mail at the same time or we all write on their facebook wall on the same day asking for the same thing.
Stuff like that will catch their attention better than the petitions that people start on here.

RV pretty much knew where they were gonna be this year since they consolidated all the RV campgrounds in the west part of the campgrounds. I think the problem with people being stuck there could be alleviated much easier by them telling us upfront that people who got camped in Pod 1 would be there for the night rather than not saying anything or telling people (like me, for example) that people would be able to leave Wednesday night without an issue.
Yeah, but you still have no way of knowing whether you'll be stuck out there.
Make it the designated RV spot. It will get all of those big vehicles, generator sounds and exhaust away from the GA campers. And we'll be able to arrive Wednesday without the fear of being stuck out there.

Yeah, I think that's the problem... they never have their story straight.
My understanding is they want to "fill up" that area before they let people out to walk against traffic coming into that area. But they (Bonnaroo) haven't ever made that official statement.
Instead of making that area RV... why don't they just not fill that area up in POD 1 unless it becomes necessary? There were plenty of unused GA camping areas left this year. I know there was tons of open space across from RV near POD 6 and didn't someone say the space out by POD 11 was vacant?
Seems to me they could re-configure it all so that no one has to get "stuck" anywhere against their will. (I've was stuck out there until sunrise 3 years in a row when we went in Wednesday and did tent-only.)
The reason that they fill Pod 1 up first is because the road is used for VIP to enter when it opens on Thursday morning but the traffic moves in opposite directions. If they didn't fill it first they could be facing the problem of two-way traffic down that stretch of road and they're just not built for it.
I love the plan of just filling it with RV, staff and volunteers. I'm with ITM that petitions are pretty ineffective, though.
Also mentioned that it was disheartening to find that their garbage recycling and a good section of unused Groop camping was significantly closer to Centeroo than some people who arrived Wednesday night. I can understand not knowing that Groop camping wasn't going to be popular but there is no reason for the garbage dump to get preferential placement!

Everyone pays for their spot, but I agree with Phi, RV pays A LOT extra for just space. Our walk from RV was only about 10 or 15 minutes. How far is Pod 1? No way I would pay an extra 185 for a spot just to park the RV and then have to walk 45 minutes. If it didn't cost extra, I would be OK with it. But it does.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
We were the very back row in Pod 1 and its was at most a 25 min walk. The back What entrance is not always open, but the passage between what and VIP is.

You also have to consider the weather. If it were to come a thunder storm it would be a logistical nightmare to try to get RVs across the entire farm. We are talking a fucked up traffic jam beyond anything Roo has seen if they planed to put RV's in Pod 1.
Actually, it's ass backwards to what they did this year and that was the best traffic situation I've seen in my 4 years of going.
Some people claimed that, but everyone who tried to get out, could get out..
not true lady, DT + wife and GF + friend were turned away from TO. rdk + his sister and few others only made it over b/c they did some ninja woods shit.

I was also turned away. I was told that if I forced my way out I would be escorted off of the premesis. We eventually got pissed off and set up camp right at the entrance. From there we heard the security people yell all night "you can't leave until 8am." They eventually let people leave en masse with a safety escourt at 3am.
So I'm not sure how most people got out (before 3am) from my vantage point.

the other thing to keep in mind is that the RVs weren't along the interstate tents would be, so you'd switch people getting screwed by a long walk with people getting screwed by interstate traffic noise
If not fer TO, BFE is the place to be! I say no to RV only in 007!
But it's true this year we were told all night that we would not be allowed to leave before 8am Thursday mornin'. Bunny, ODB, and I decided to go back to our makeshift camp and catch some sleep around 1am and missed the 3am release. Thankfully we had friends on the outside that helped secure some space at Camp Inforoo!

I actually liked my spot in BFE, granted I didn't go back to my car and I was right at the entrance. It was nice and quiet, and I probably wouldn't mind doing it again next year. I'd like to say it would make sense to section that area off as volunteer/guest/artist/whatever only, but it wouldn't fill up. Plus I doubt the artist/guests would like being camped far away.
It might be worth to suggest to the organizers in their survey to widen that stretch of road so it doesn't present as many logistical problems. People would be able to leave the area for TO as traffic would be moved in, and there wouldn't be as crazy of a demand to fill up Pod 1 before the VIP campers roll in.
When I got too close to the exit of Pod 1 that night, the two mounted rent-a-cops pulled on their horse's reins to make them stamp and physically block me from leaving. I'm scared of horses to begin with but it was intimidating and terrible.
If POD 1 were to be RV-only, maybe there should be dedicated taxis for RV campers, then everyone is a little happier.
I have loved camping in BFE in the past but it's the only place where they will park you and prevent you from utilizing the Tent Only option and that needs to be fixed. (Note: This did not happen to me. Most likely if I had gotten parked down there I would have been happy to stay there -- as I did in 2005-2009.)
They mentioned on the survey that they might be adding larger shuttles from the outlying areas to Centeroo. At least that's how I interpreted it. (It would still cost money but conceivably could reduce the amount of shuttles in generally by carrying more attendees at a time.)

The Bonnaroo survey just came out recently. I got an e-mail asking to fill it out. If you have a problem there is definitely the place to voice your concerns. A message board thread will not really change much.

Take the survey and mention the tent only Wednesday imbargo for pod 1.
Cory I remember hanging out with you guys for a bit by the entrance in the pod 1 Tent Only Refugee Camp! zeljocoth, a couple other Corys, myself and a few others escaped around 4am. I gotta get one of those wagon thingys. Hauling an EZup, a suitcase, a tent, and a backpack filled with beer and water while seriously impaired was brutal at that hour!

That's how the thread got bumped in the first place...

Yup, I was camped with bisontrax, fluttershy and their friends. We'll make it to TO/Camp Inforoo one of these years.
It was crazy, there were like 4 Cory's in one spot. I wound up talking to one of them Wednesday night for a good hour about dubstep and other EDM acts.
