It was crazy, there were like 4 Cory's in one spot. I wound up talking to one of them Wednesday night for a good hour about dubstep and other EDM acts.
I think I met three or four Cor(e)y's this year. Very confusin' fer me. There were a bunch of us hangin' out around the impromptu campsite in BFE waitin' to be released on Wednesday.

We were in Pod 1 for the second time in the 5 years i"ve been. I think the biggest complaint that i have is that we are isolated from the rest of the Roo. The walk is much worse from other camps but at least you feel included. I don't know about RV only but i think they should rethink that area to be just for vendors and volunteers or do some redesigning of the layout.
I have one question. Did those of you who got stuck in Pod 1 arrive before the gates "officially" opened? It seems like people who arrive "early" are the ones to get stuck out there. If that's the case, then nothing should be done. You choose to get there early.
And what's the reasoning behind not letting tent only individuals out of Pod 1 on Wednesday night? Too dark?
In addition, I don't see why you want to wish your misfortune upon RVs. They would have the same problems. First off, if they block that area off starting on Thursday, it would be harder for companion vehicles to meet their RVs if RVs were placed out there. Not to mention, a lot of people take their tents to their friends who are in RV. I'm guessing if people aren't allowed out on Wednesday night, people wouldn't be allowed in, and you'd have the same exact problems with people being stranded.

It's one-way traffic so they should let people in. (Although I thought that companion vehicles had to arrive with the RV?)
And nobody is wishing misfortune on anyone, as far as I know. We're just saying that one of the most likely starting points for people headed to Tent Only would be someplace really far away such as BFE. Meanwhile, it's highly unlikely that the RV attendees are going to head over there. That's all we're saying.
This year I was a pre-fest volunteer so I was out there in volunteer camping starting Sunday. I also organized a group for groop camping so I was trying to get out on Wednesday night to join my mates. Despite the fact that numerous people had informed me I would be allowed to leave "On Wednesday night when GA camping opens," the Mounties insisted I could not leave until 8am on Thursday. Finally I got fed up at 3am and went to the gate to argue with a very rude man that would only refer to himself as Mickey Mouse when I asked for his name.
Either way, I got there and saw a large group of people camped out in a sort of protest fashion because they also were trying to leave before 8am. After explaining to the people at gate as politely as possible that I paid extra money for this service (groop camping) and that it's not fair for them to keep me in BFE, Mickey Mouse finally got fed up and said "Quack it! Let em all out!" suddenly a ton Of badas$ people got up and marched out of there as I ran back to get my car for a gold cart escort from Mickey Mouse.
I get that. And that actually really stinks that you can't get out on Wednesday night. I'm just saying a lot of people meet up with individuals at RVs. So there would be problems for RVs too (maybe not as bad)
I think the bigger problem to attack is why people can't leave BFE on Wednesday night, instead of simply exchanging the problems to another group.
I agree that it's unfair to toss RVers in there. Groop camping was right next to them and I don't see why they would need to be exiled to BFE. If anything, I liked that they were next to us because the port-a-johns near them were never used/always clean!

Yeah, the security people posted there that evening were pricks. They were also either giving out misinformation or straight out lies. They mentioned that the 8am rule was noted in the festival guide (protip: it wasn't). In fact, they told patrons that, if they left, they would be kicked out of the festival. The guide says that at any time a patron can leave and re-enter the festival grounds on foot.
I was sure to also make note of all of that on the survey. But it feels like mentioning all of this in the survey isn't enough. I'm wondering if there's anybody else we should inform of this whole Wednesday night Pod 1 clusterfuck. All the points of contact on the Bonnaroo/AC Entertainment websites seem to go to general info/lost and found type of e-mail addresses. I want to at least make sure that the people in charge of those things are made aware of this situation/miscommunications so that it can be rectified by next year.
From what I gathered, the reason we were stuck in BFE is because it was too much of a liability to allow people to walk around Wednesday night. They were still setting up centeroo at the time (overnight) and there was heavy machinery driving around in the dark. That is why they escorted me (and apparently all the people on foot) with a golf cart escort.

Maybe that's the solution. Have groups being escorted by golf carts leaving every 30-60 minutes from Pod 1 to Tent Only.
I've been to Bonnaroo 4 years now and have yet to end up in BFE. So I don't really know what the road between BFE and the rest of Bonnaroo looks like (or how much traffic is on it), but it just seems ignorant to let people walk around the rest of Bonnaroo but not BFE. With only 1 event being held on the Bonnaroo grounds all year long, is it too hard for Bonnaroo to wrap up everything that requires hard machinery by 7 PM on Wednesday night?

I went to go meet some friends that were in pod 1 on thursday morning and they tried to pull that no one comes in and no one goes out bullshit. Everybody back there payed their money to be there so id like to see one of them try and stop me. I mean what are they going to do, chase you down and slap you on the wrist? I can understand the traffic flow thing but to try and tell people they absolutely can't pass through? Hell to the no.

Maybe I've missed it, I don't know. I think I understand the reasons that people who show up early are camped in 007- my questions is: Does anyone know why they keep us in there? I've yet to hear any reason that makes sense and all the horse ladies would say is, "Because if you try to leave we'll drag you out in chains." (okay, so maybe that isn't an exact quote, but I swear- it's close)
I tried to get out on Wednesday night 3 different times and failed every time. I thought about camping by the gate, but setting up all my stuff seemed like too much trouble if they weren't going to let us out until 8am anyway... so I figured I could sleep in my car and go wait by the gate around 6. When I got to the gate at 6 with all my stuff no one was there- they'd been gone for hours....... And I was pretty upset. I'm a pretty scrawny chick and I was pulling a pretty heavy wagon all by myself (some of you may have seen me) and it was awful to worry that I might be getting there too late and not find a space. When I finally got over to TO it took forever for me to find a spot, but I did find ONE spot big enough for my tent and ez-up. Met some cool people who showed up even later than I did and crammed in around our ez-up too, which made me so glad I had it- so that each of us could share a little shade instead of having our tents on top of each other's. I got lucky, but I know people who couldn't find any room.
Always bring a copy of the FAQ's with you for problems such as this. Also the security company is called AXIS. All of them have their company and their names displayed at all times.
I've never been with the POD 1 on Wednesday night quarantine but I've solved other problems with conflicting information with a copy of information directly from Bonnaroo.com.

Look at it like this.
If you come in Wednesday night you have a car and are guaranteed a camping spot (behind or in front of your car).
If you come in Thursday, but didn't drive (meaning you flew into Nashville and are taking the shuttle to Bonnaroo) you aren't guaranteed a camping spot because you don't have a car.
It makes sense to keep people from going to Tent Only until Thursday because Tent Only is one of the main places that people who fly in are expecting to set up camp. If they let EVERYONE who got in run to tent only and stake out some spots then there'd be a lot of shuttle people who arrive on Thursday and are screwed.
Basically, (and this isn't the official answer...just what myself and others believe) they want to save as much Tent Only space for as long as they can for the people who don't have a car camping spot and won't get in until the next day.
I really don't think it was an issue with saving space in Tent Only for those who fly-in.
Someone made the decision that there was too much traffic on Woodland Ave and South 1st Ave. to allow all the pedestrians from POD 1 to walk back and forth.
This is a total bummer, because what if you hauled gear for a friend that ended up in another Pod? Or as most have pointed out you intended to camp in Tent Only.
Each year there is tons of speculation here on Inforoo about WHO or WHEN you get stuck in Pod 1, and there seems to be no official answer from Bonnaroo. If they are going to restrict the movement of those stuck in Pod 1 they need to be more clear with who will end up there, which is why I suggest they use that area for RV only. That way you'd know what you're getting into.
I actually plan on doing RV next year for the first time.
I really don't think it was an issue with saving space in Tent Only for those who fly-in.
Really? I feel like if they didn't hold people in "bonnajail" then tent only would possibly be totally full come Thursday afternoon when the shuttles start arriving.
But itm TO is open to all the other PODs startin' Wednesday. Either everyone needs to be allowed to get there on Wednesday, or it needs to be closed to all until Thursday. That's my issue.

I was under the impression that it was "closed" to everyone but they didn't enforce it. Like, when Jess and I were walking stuff over to Tent Only we weren't sure we'd be able to definitely set up. What you're saying is a good point for sure. I've been saying that they need to be more clear on what is and isn't open....also be sure to let people know if they arrive early they'll be camped in pod 1 and likely stuck there.

My issue is they need to have a set time for when Pod 1 gets let out and for when tent only technically "opens". I asked multiple staff member in Pod 1 about when tent only opens and most of them didnt know what I was talking about. Some said 8 am, some said 6 am, some said 10 am. The lesson I just learned from it all was don't get stuck in Pod 1, come into roo little later.
But itm TO is open to all the other PODs startin' Wednesday. Either everyone needs to be allowed to get there on Wednesday, or it needs to be closed to all until Thursday. That's my issue.
They should do this. It seems like it would solve all a lot of the problems. From the way it sounded the only people that were restricted from TO were POD 1.
Maybe they should turn POD 1 into a cars only section. And enlarge TO. They should ask people when they arrive on Wednesday if they are planning on camping with their cars and they direct them accordingly.
But I think they need to do a better job at parking the GA altogether.
I was over by the trees behind 8 and 9 on Thursday and that was just as much as a clusterfuck as TO. When I was camped there in 08 we had a huge open space where two "row" met each other because we weren't parked correctly. The past three years I park our party and our neighbors because the people parking didn't really understand what they should be doing.

I don't like it, but this answer makes sense. I personally thought they did it for safety concerns (though they really didn't need to be such dicks about it). It wasn't mentioned anywhere on the official site that TO would not be open until Thursday. If that's the case than it really needs to be enforced and made clear to everyone who's contemplating TO.
Also they really do need to make TO bigger. The Family Guy Pods were virtually empty so it's not like they couldn't give up some space to expand TO because they would run out of space for car campers. I'm willing to bet quite a few folks were denied a spot in TO. I stumbled in around 3:45am and we lucked out and found enough room to pitch a 10x10 EZup and a couple of small 1 person tents. It was already pretty filled at that hour and when I woke up around 9am it appeared to be completely filled.

the supervisor we talked to informed us that the road was closed because of traffic for vendors and other festival things, and they couldnt have people walking on the road while important things needed a way into roo..... it was a good reason, except for the 10 feet wide grass pathway that ran along the road would have been more than enough room for foot traffic.
we had four cars that arrived at the same time, and each got shipped off to a different camp. one was by the entrance, the other in pod 1, and 2 more over by the new ferris wheel but still seperated by about 300 yards. our car in pod 1 happened to be carrying a large amount of our food (AND ALL OF OUR LIQUOR!) so when they wouldnt let us go to it, or let our friends leave, it sucked pretty bad. and for a while we thought that maybe a zombie infection broke out.

Again though....I want to say that us griping about it on this message board will not get anything done. If we really want to see some action we need to have a calculated way of getting the message across. Social media seems a good idea. Tweeting and Facebook messaging Bonnaroo, AC Entertainment, Superfly, and Ashley Capps would likely get some attention if we all did it at the same time or on the same day. Random complaints don't resonate but if they see a decent amount of feedback on a specific issue maybe then something will be done.
