Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Richard Vickers (aka rvicke on the board) suffered a massive heart attack at some point over the weekend (apparently while sitting around with campmates drinking coffee) and apparently the oxygen deficit to his brain was too much to overcome. He passed away a day or two ago after several days' hospitalization. I know very few details other than that.
I did not really know him personally and did not get to meet him this year but he was part of the "over 40" group and had friended me on FB. From his postings, both on here and on FB, he seemed to be a great guy who loved life and music. He had been to several Bonnaroos in the past and looked forward to this year with great joy. From what I can piece together, he wasn't doing anything crazy...just was his time I suppose.
Anytime my life intersects with another, even tangentially, I feel like they are a part of my life in some way. I am left with the all-too-frequent refrain that you never really know....and that each day should be savored to the fullest. Also, this is a reminder that you should never waste an opportunity to tell those you love that you love them.

That's so sad to hear. I had never talked to him much, but he had helped out on Ask Gary this year. I messaged him thanking him, and he said he was just trying to help out the new people some as well.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I was Rick's campmate the last 2 years, cause we both come to Roo alone. We met last year on the board and this year when I asked if he were going to Roo and wanted to camp, he said yes. He suffered his attack Friday morning, around 11am at our campsite. If anyone else knew him or wants to know what happened, you can PM me. He passed yesterday in Nashville, surrounded by very loving family and friends, who said Roo was where he'd have wanted to be even if he'd known he was going to suffer this attack. I'm happy to have had him as my Roo-mate and to have known him for the brief days I knew him. I wish him safe travels, and I really appreciate you guys remembering him on the board.

This news saddens me. I wish I had gotten to know him better. Thoughts and prayers from The Pondo Army goes out to his friends and family. He was one of OUR family as well.

I'm very saddened to hear this news. Although my communications with Richard were brief prior to leaving for Bonnaroo this year, he was very helpful and left an impression.
It was a pleasure to meet him on Thursday night, he welcomed me like he knew me forever and we had great conversation. Unfortunatly, we had to leave the meet up early as we had tickets for the comedy tent. I left with a promise to keep in touch and hopefully meet up again next year.

Oh no. WTF. This is terrible. I was supposed to meet up with him as he was offering me a shade tent but I couldn't get in touch with him Wednesday night. This is so upsetting. Why must this happen again? I feel sick. Why is it always the helpful, kind, and informative posters? Can't we go a year without this happening? So sad.

This was one of his last posts before Bonnaroo.....it's so sad that someone this helpful, reassuring, and excited about Bonnaroo had to meet his end at the festival:
You are going to miss something....there is simply too much going on to do it all.....so, relax, take a deep breath, and get ready to have fun....you've gone through the lineup, maybe decided on some bands you don't want to miss....for the others, I like to wander and listen....pick the one that sounds the best 'at the time'....if I miss one, then I'll catch them the next time 'round.
You are going to forget something....there is too much to remember, but don't worry...there are stores on site with everything you need, including a medical station. So relax, take a deep breath, and get ready to have fun.
You are going to make a mistake...doing something, you're going to do it wrong, but don't worry...there are people everywhere who are willing to help if you get stuck. So, relax, take a deep breath, and get ready to have fun.
What's the overall theme? Relax, take a deep breath, and get ready to have fun.
Go in with a smile and it all works out great....
I plan on saving this and posting it to new members who sign up and express nervousness about the festival. It's great advice and I'm sad we lost the person who gave it.
