Anyone have insight to what this festival is like? Is it pleasant? LA crowd alright?
Goldenvoice is now involved, so it will be better run. But I went two years ago and it was a horrible experience. The venue is awful. A giant dust bowl. Two years ago, horrible lines for everything (40 minutes to piss, 45 minutes to buy hot water, an hour to access beer gardens, etc). I also went last year (the lineup was too good), and they were able to cut down on the lines. The venue still sucks a goat off, though. I cannot emphasize how shitty it is.

Thank you for the info!
I considered going last year and did a street view of the venue... it looked pretty terrible. Like a junky and dusty abadonded lot?
The lineup this year would be worth putting up with that but alas I will be out of town.
That venue description is pretty apt. They are holding more events there, so maybe they will invest and make it a little better in the future. However, I vowed never to go back to an event there after last year and I plan to hold to that promise, even though the lineup is quite nice.

HolyshitIlostmyvoice. We saw a good amount of acts yesterday, highlights without a doubt were M83 and Refused. M83 was easily one of the best shows I've seen in a long damn time. Absolutely incredible. I allllmost said to myself "how are Refused gonna top that?" But then Refused happened. The only band I was disappointed with was The Men. I'm thinking it was a bad sound mix since they we're early on, the last two songs they played were absolutely killer though.

Totally amazing little fest guys. Goldenvoice puts this shit together right. Logistics amazing, no lines, reasonable booze$, great sound. A+ Saw a ton of phenomenal acts yesterday (see below). But in all honesty, two words will sum up how freaking incredible the day was: LIGHTNING BOLT.
Allah-las (everyones new favorite band) White Fence (didn't realize my buddy Jared was playing bass for Tim) Nick Waterhouse (everyones other new favorite band) Wild Nothing (meh) FATHER JOHN MISTY (!!) King Khan & The Shrines (party x1000000) Aesop Rock (worst set i've seen by him) Lightning Bolt (!!!!!!) Dinosaur Jr. (loudest act of the weekend, get lost sleigh bells) Liars (good, not great, overall disappointment) Desaparecidos (conor does anthemic arena shit so good) Converge (best set i've seen by them) Yeasayer (jamtronica dance madness, freaking fun) American Nightmare The Faint (yes please)

Could you elaborate on Liars? They were incredible when I saw them in '07 and '10, but I've been worried that the WIXIW material might be dull live. I've also got decisions to make this week....
