I believe their pit strategy was taken from a European festival that had found it by far the safest (after having an accident years earlier). Pits will likely never be risk-free. The best thing we can all do is look out for one another. In fact, the last security person pitters pass by should remind them of this, so everyone is cognizant of others' safety.

Ban carrying the 10-20ft personal landmarks at the stages. There were a couple shows where my view was obstructed because of these things. If they are already banned, have security during the shows be on top of removing those items or the people.
I appreciate those people who schlep landmarks to shows. It makes going to the bathroom and coming back during a headliner much easier. Plus they're usually pretty trippy.

Somebody in the VIP section had an inflatable flamingo on a stick at Danzig and security took care of it pretty well.
