Haha. Did I post about the guy who ran up to me in the dark before MMJ took the stage and said "HEY MAN! MY MORNING JACKET IS HOUSE MUSIC RIGHT!?!?!?!"
yep, i saw you with the mask at cherub on friday. so i when i recognized you after leaving I cant remember, washed out maybe?, i just thought id walk up and introduce myself.
lol well now I feel bad cause I completely blew you off. I just thought u were some random fucked up kids and I was in a hurry to get in the MMJ pit haha. my bad man.
A question for discussions sake: suppose this cruise is a big success. Do you think this could grow to include bigger name acts in the future? I mean, I'm happy with Pulp as the headliner. But if this really takes off could we see a Radiohead/Daft Punk type name doing this eventually? I'm guessing not every major act would be down with spending 3-4 days on a cruise ship with a bunch of fans, but some might do it if the money is right.
Highly doubtful unless they raised the prices threefold
This sounds cool in theory but no way I could possibly afford it. I'm just hoping for a James Murphy or !!! pre-party or post party in Ft Lauderdale or Miami Holy Ship and Jam Cruise always do things like this, I hope coachella follows trend

Another question that should be raised: what kind of atmosphere is this ship going to have? It reminds me of gardenfresh's thread on the total access experience. Is this cruise going to be full of rich people who don't really care about music? The spoof poster referencing the irony of "Common People" being performed is a valid point. There's no way I can afford to do it this year, but I'm extremely interested in reading reports on what it was like.

all i heard was "HEY MAN IS MMJ HOUSE?" lol
lol its all good man, i figured you were trying to meet someone or make it into the pit.

If Radiohead played a Coachella Crusie I would charge it to my credit card and then would have to file for bankruptcy after returning to land or whore myself out to raise money.

Yeah, those kinds of scenarios would get a lot of us into financial trouble. The temptation would just be too great. Maybe this whole thing is a terrible idea overall. Some of us just can't help ourselves.
I'm going because I feel like my last 15 vacations have been at a festival. Not that it's a bad thing but my GF won't get off my back about going on a "real vacation", with sand/ocean and all that jazz. Luckily she's amped for this idea.
Plus: Pulp, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, James Murphy, Sleigh Bells, Simian Mobile, Z-Trip, !!!, El-P, Gaslamp Killer, Black Lips, Grimes, Cloud Nothings, The Rapture (that's a music cruise lineup like none before including some of my favorites). I plan on riding James Murphy's nuts all weekend basically. By the end of this trip he'll be aware of my existence!

Pretty cool that you found a loophole around the GF thing. If you don't care, please report back on how the on sale went. I'm curious to know.

My wife got on today, with zero difficulties, and booked us a room. That's my Christmas present, but I don't think I'm going to be too upset about having zero presents under the tree this year.

I missed the boat. Literally. By the time I made it to the order screen the only rooms available were $900. I'm sure the $500's went rather fast. Good thing is since we missed out on this she committed to Chella 13.
And now I will return to Indio, one more time. Daft Punk, I need you now more than ever!
So i just put my deposit down on a room. I'm going Solo, my friends are lame, no one likes the music. Screw them. figured there is no way i do not have an incredible experience. Who on here is going?
i've been on two jam cruises, and i can say that phi's poster is the complete opposite. jam cruise is like a mini-roo in every way, plus all the luxuries of being on a cruise (elevators, own room with beds not tents, all day buffets and sit down restaurants, spas, casino, etc). that being said, i am sure that this will be exactly like a mini-coachella. if the lineup were a little more to my liking, i might have considered it. however, jam cruise is where my heart is with the festival cruises.
