Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Only made it to Elvis Costello yesterday. But he was his usual amazing self. All solo and a great mix of hits (Red Shoes, Watching the Detectives, Everyday I Write the Book (which he said he hates), Welcome to My Working Week) and some stuff from deeper in the catalogue (such as closing with Sulfur to Sugarcane). I don't think that he could put on a bad show if he tried.
SF is insane this weekend. In addition to HSB 12, there are Giants playoff games, 49ers v. Bills tomorrow, Fleet Week (including performances by the Blue Angels), a Columbus Day parade, an America's Cup qualifying event in the Bay, and more.
Got to get moving if I'm going to make Red Baraat.

The highlight of Day 2 was Red Baraat. I'd never seen them and wasn't sure what to expect. They were insane. A unique combination of raucous Indian music and funk. Imagine the soundtrack to a mid-70s Blackspoitation flick made in Bollywood. Or better yet, check them out the next time you get a chance. Other highlights were (1) a tribute to Warren Hellman (who founded the festival), Earl Scrugs, and Doc Watson that included Emmylou Harris, Preservation Hall, Steve Earle, and many more; and (2) Chris Robinson Brotherhood.
Day 3 highlights included Patti Smith closing with Because the Night and Gloria (which she does better than anyone); The Knitters (which I had no idea included so many former members of X); something called Doug Sahm's Phantom Playboys that included Boz Scaggs, Jimmie Vaughan, Delbert McClinton, Steve Earle, and Dave Alvin; Luther Dickinson and The Wandering (mostly a showcase for young female musicians), and a jam band that included Steve Kimmock, Bernie Worrell, Keller Williams, and Kyle Hollingsworth.
My 2012 festival season has officially come to a close (he says with a weary, but contented sigh).

When intoducing the band last night David Byrne mentioned that one of the horn players was from Red Baraat. I guess not any more or he is on leave to tour with this show.
I love Red Baraat! The bass trumpet player from Red Baraat was playing trumpet in David Byrne & St. Vincent's band last week, so I guess they had someone else filling in for him?
