I'm looking to hear from anyone who built a drum this year at Bonnaroo and did not complete it at the festival. If that is your situation, the guy in charge (Stan) said that they would ship out the drums after he finished building them... It's now going on two months since Bonnaroo concluded and I have not received the drum! I got billed for it the day I started building, but still nothing. Stan has been flakey about answering e-mails over the past month+ i've been contacting him. His most recent response (over two weeks ago) said that it would be shipped out in the following two days.
Anyone in this same position? Has anyone gotten there drum successfully? Thanks for your help!

If I had a nickel for every time someone said "Drum's in the mail." That sucks. How much was it? Maybe you can catch this Stan at another fest and beat him like a... you know.
In that thread you'll see that there are links to the guys website and possible facebook page. My suggestion is just keep sending a message on both once a day until you get a response. Hopefully the guy comes through and if he doesn't let us know. Keep us updated

I think we should InfoRoo bomb this guys email and Facebook until he sends Mike and zkr their drum. You guys in it to win it? I am. zkr, post his info if you like, maybe we can help. I have a big mouth, I can usually annoy people enough that they finally relent.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I'm glad to see all the support from the community! I have both Stan's e-mail and cell#, but won't put them on the board quite yet (although very soon I will). Almost two months- seriously wtf!? If Mike is reading this please send me a private message. Idk what to do at this point, all I want is this drum! I missed countless shows I wanted to see during my first Roo working on this drum, and I'm starting to wonder if I'm ever going to see it... Anyone who may be able to assist in anyway, knowing Stan or such, please reach out to me...

As of two weeks ago, he was sending me out a new drum (as he lost mine!).... still nothing. While this bums me out, do I really want a drum from Bonnaroo that wasn't built at Bonnaroo or do I want the drum that I started while listening to TuNe-YaRdS on This and finished during the Shins show on Which?
I've emailed with him multiple times.... it's getting to the point where I will be filing for a refund from my credit card, if it's not too late.
I know this sucks, but we really learned something today. If you build a drum at Bonnaroo, bring it home with you, even if it's unfinished.
Here's some of what he said to me in our last conversation on July 19th.
Hey Mike, My commitment today is to complete five Bonnaroo drums and get them on their way. Thanks for your patience. I appreciate the photo you sent. After looking for your drum, I find someone else apparently at Bonnaroo, after you had left, appreciated your work even more than you or I... It seems it grew legs and walked. : (
May I complete another 20" black cherry djembe for you and ship it to you this Saturday? I will recreate the exact "fountain image" you burned and painted on the drum base. I'm sorry for this disappointment. In nine years at Bonnaroo, this is only the second time this has happened.
Let me Know what will serve you best. Once again, I'm sorry.

Buck Twenty Five for mine, but I went Cherry, and a larger drum... Had a great rendition of the fountain on the other side, but the only pic I have also has my address card on it.

From the sounds of it I don't think the guy is intentionally trying to screw anyone....but definitely sounds unprofessional and unorganized to the max. So if it gets to the point that we all contact him asking for some justice to our inforoo buddies I'd like to mention that it can be done in a friendly manner......cursing a dude out and being extra angry towards him will just make things worse.

Agreed ITM... definitely not a bad guy. Just your standard 60's/70's hippie that probably took to much! Disorganized seems like a very kind manner of putting it.

So if it gets to the point that we all contact him asking for some justice to our inforoo buddies I'd like to mention that it can be done in a friendly manner......cursing a dude out and being extra angry towards him will just make things worse.

Stan the Drum Man just V-Texted me that he's at UPS with my Drum Kit AND FORGOT MY ADDRESS! Did ITM mention disorganization? He offered to redo the artwork himself, but I asked him to just send out the kit. Not holding my breath, but let's see. Hopefully he has your actual drum!

Can someone please help me. my girlfriend and i also did not finish our drum at bonnaroo and are in the same situation. what email address did you use to contact stan. we are very worried that he has lost our drum. PLEASE HELP. we are at a stand still with this.

Mike should be able to help you with that hopefully.
Let this be a warning to everyone for the future.....don't use the build-a-drum tent unless you know you'll be able to leave with it lol. This guy sounds really bad at following up on stuff.
Haha thanks. yea ive seen what you went through. this was my third year at roo. and i had been waiting to hage enough money to get a drum. stan seems like an ok guy im hopping hes just really high most of the time and forgot aobout us. the email you used to get intouch with him would be more than awesome. i still would do another drum at roo next year but if i dont get the drum my opinion might change.
When my sister and I made one a few years ago we were told that we could've taken the entire 4 days to do it. We didn't and worked our asses off on Sunday to make it happen. But we got to dance around like fools to Neon Trees in the process to make it work.
So MY ADVICE TO ANYONE THAT WANTS TO BUILD A DRUM
Start as soon as the place opens and work on it in the morning each day before music funtimes start and then you'll finish.
The people are really helpful there, but they're also dealing with thousands of people that are leaving their names on pieces of paper with broken pencils.
They have to scramble to pack up and leave just like the rest of us.
Give them just the tiniest bit of credit.

I'm managing Stan's paperwork this year... we won't have ANY lost drums. PROMISE!!! Last year was UTTERLY INSANE!! We had 60-70 people drunkenly leave names on scrap pieces of paper stuffed inside their drum shells and we had to finish and mail them.
This year NEW RULE: We are taking NO unfinished drums back with us. You start it. You finish it! START EARLY.
We are having a time cut-off... Folks MUST start building within 24 hours of festival end.
Also.... my apologies for A) the stress this caused the folks in this thread, and B) That I didn't see it until now.
Stan (the owner) is a super awesome guy who DOESNT use facebook, is bad at email, and travels ALL over the country ALL year long building drums at festival & workshops... PS... to the guy who said he was "high all the time"... I've been working with Stan for 8 years and I've never ONCE seen him high or even sip a glass of wine. 100% straight edge - all the time.
Anyway... thanks for all the feedback (positive and negative)....
