With Lollapalooza announcing Lollapalooza Tel Aviv, plus its other international locations, along with Coachella going to two weekend and the high probability that ACL will too next year, what is a viable expansion option for Bonnaroo?
I don't think it's two weekends. They have tried a second Bonnaroo location in the states, but it failed. Would an international Bonnaroo work?
Or should it just not worry what those other fests are doing and keep a good thing a good thing?

I think it's more likely we start seeing other festivals/events by Superfly/AC on the Bonnaroo land. I can't imagine them doing a second weekend or a cruise like Coachella. Maybe attempt the second location thing again. Only reason that failed was because of locals who were nervous about bringing hippies into town. Maybe they can find a different place that will accept 'em.

I propose a "Bonnaroo West" somewhere in the forest/beauty that is Norcal/Oregon. Anything north of San Luis Obispo and south of Canada is fine with me.
When I spoke to AC/SF at Bonnaroo this year, I suggested a spring break festival in Florida. Langerado '08 proved the viability of that idea. If there is ever a Bonnaroo Florida in March, remember it was my idea.
I don't see them expanding but if they were to I would lean towards gardenfresh's idea of a Western version of the fest. I think situating something like that in Oregon is a great idea
They already do Outside Lands and Moog, and they expanded with Googa Mooga this year. Not to mention all the stuff they do with Jazzfest.
Bonnaroo NE was an interesting idea that fell apart (the Northeast doesn't really have a "major" fest at all), so maybe something in that vein.
Overall I hope that they don't. There are about five times as many music festivals as we need now. At some point, the bubble will crash (I hope).
Nateva had the chance to be something really good/big up here, wish it could've survived.
Nateva was alright but not a great festival. The logistics anyway. Music was solid (moe., Ghostland, Flaming Lips, Felice Brothers, Big Gigantic, Umphrey's, Keller, Lotus, Zappa plays Zappa, etc) but it was more along the lines of Mountain Jam on flat land instead of a competitor for the big boys.
I would have liked to see it done again but there were a lot of issues.

Agreed. AC already has expanded their influence significantly with respect to geography. However, Coachella and Lolla are expanding their individual brands. I don't know that Outside Lands and Forecastle expand the Bonnaroo "brand" just because they are AC productions.
I'm basically saying I wouldn't be surprised to see AC slap the name "Bonnaroo" on something else, though I think it would cheapen the festival (I really hope they wouldn't do it in Manchester, for this reason) and further expand the bubble Juggs was talking about.
I'm elated that music festivals have been a major beneficiary in the fundamental changes in the music industry over the last decade, but it does feel like we're getting oversaturated. Fortunately, the OG Bonnaroo would hang on IMO if that bubble does catastrophically burst.
I can more understand discussing this type of (more internal) expansion. However, the caliber of "headliner" would depend heavily on Bonnaroo's ability to draw more of the attendees in on Wednesday night/early Thursday morning, as well as actually selling out earlier (ala Coachella this year).
Would a Thursday night headliner sell more tickets faster? I don't think it would.

If only! Langerado @ Big Cypress was incredible, but it was also the last successful festival in S FL that wasn't primarily EDM.

I am really surprised that they do not throw more events on that land. It seems like such a waste to only use it for a week a year. It seems like you could do a spring event, Bonnaroo, and a fall event.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

I dunno about a thurs headliner, but i think having 2-3 bands on which thurs would be nice, something like 6-7:15, 8:30-10, 11-?, and would make centeroo a little less crowded thurs night.
Bonnaroo North at Downsview Park in Toronto for 2013
No no no. Wasn't there an island of sorts that used to hold events.
I want to say the name was Christian Island.
I'm probably wrong.
Centre Island. It's a great venue for shows (Arcade Fire, Bjork) and has hosted smaller day long festivals too (V Fest for 3 years) but it would be too small to host a fest of that size and the needs of a festival that size.
Downsview is much larger (it hosted 500, 000 for SARSfest back in the day) and has recently started building a series of 2 day fests (Heavy T.O., VELD) albeit ones catering to 20-30,000 people.
This idea could definitely work for the size and needs of a festival like Bonnaroo.
