Mike D, I really thought you were inspector. I should have gone with my gut and killed SFA, but he seemed so nice in round 1. Oh well. SFA is right, townies. Look at the thread and post theories. It is not about survival. It is about finding and killing mafia. The game was in doubt when you let Days 2 and 3 go by so quick without posting. No attempt was made to slow it down and see who the 3rd person was. And there was minimal fact checking done, which allowed me to flat out lie a few times.
I might sign up. I'm sick of having so many players that say nothing. It makes the game really frustrating.
ALSO, if you are mafia, you can use that to your advantage. The silent players always work to the Mafia's advantage. They hurt more then the silent mafia members

Dude, you got voted off in the forth round. You are a very smart person. You could have made a strong defense for yourself. BUT, you didn't.
How many games do I have to defend you, like i did in this one, before you actually help the townies? Make a stand for yourself. The mafia targets you for that reason. You don't try. So you keep that same reputation. Which I'm amazed that people still fall for but, whatever, they do. SO change that.
I'm not signing up without some sort of incentive that the players will actually participate. This isn't sour grapes, as I've spoken to Viking in PMs about this. It's just not fun when have the players don't make an effort.

I understand if you're mafia, but I agree with SFA, townies need to talk a lot more. This not only forces mafia to talk more, but it simply makes the game more enjoyable.
The problem is that the theory is quieter players make an impact later on. It worked when the quieter players still posted but were relatively quiet. Now, there is a giant gap between quiet and active, since the quieter players have gone from quiet to silent. I think the only way to fix it would be for the more active players to look into the silent players more often early on. Too often the first round runoff is made up of the people who are posting the most. When I first started, at least one quiet person was always tossed in, but now, the mafia throws myself, LD, roo, bacon, etc into the first round runoff hoping for a kill right away. If I remember right, my first game, surf was really quiet, got tossed in, and killed day 1 and he ended up being mafia. Next game, the same thing happened with EAP.
Townies also need to realize that if you are silent all game, there is no way to prove you are a townie. Once you are in danger of being voted off, I pretty much disregard anything you have to say, or at least treat everything with extreme caution. If you post and explain what you are thinking, yes the mafia can use it against you, but the other townies can use it for you too. Hence why I do not get the change of styles for roo. When he posts, I can actually defend him as a townie. When he does not, people get suspicious of him.
There is no way for a ref to compel people to vote. If we put a minimum or a warning system in place, you run the risk of over regulating it. I would say the more active / experienced players need to toss in quiet people more often in order to balance the game and the quieter townies need to speak up more, and by doing so, force the mafia to step out of the corner and talk as well. Silence should be much more suspicious to people, but since so many townies use it now, it is not. Lets make it suspicious again.

I really do apologize for my lack of participation in this past game. Everyone who has played with me in the past knows that's not my style, even when I'm mafia. I was just super busy with work and the end of my summer classes when we started, and wasn't really able to pay attention.
