On October 27, Deer Tick frontman and all-around indie rock miscreant John McCauley will perform in one of music’s most coveted venues: Carnegie Hall.
Built in 2003, Zankel Hall is the newest of the three stages at New York’s renowned Carnegie Hall and home to the venue’s less traditional performances, but even for it, the show looks to be a departure. McCauley, who’s known in equal part for his songwriting chops and outlandish stage antics, will likely play to a less rambunctious crowd at Zankel, which may be the only venue in existence to consider his 10 PM slot to be “late night.”
For more info, check out the event’s page on the Carnegie Hall website.
any word on tickets, when they're going to be on sale, and prices?
Thought you were going to Moogfest, no? You brought something like that up when Stillwater originally posted about this. I'm not sure about when Tix on sale or prices or anything yet. I think sometime this month tix go on sale but can't confirm that.

Haha I see. Didn't realize it was bad/not to your liking.
Oh, it's not bad! Just underwhelming. It's just not enough to get me to travel to North Carolina. I'm actually kinda relieved because I really wanted to go to this.
JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE - IN THE SPIRIT OF WOODY GUTHRIE
10/26 with special guests John McCauley of Deer Tick and Joe Pug
10/27 with special guests The Low Anthem and Joe Pug
Two special evenings with the exceptional singer and songwriter Justin Townes Earle will include Justin’s original songs in the context of the continuing legacy of Woody Guthrie in his centennial celebration year. For an artist whose list of influences runs the gamut from Randy Newman to Woody Guthrie to Bruce Springsteen, categories are useless. Justin, son of a great American troubadour Steve Earle, won the coveted “Song of the Year” award at the Americana Music Awards in 2011, and his latest cd “Nothing’s Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now” has garnered critical acclaim. These two exceptional nights will feature special guests invited by Justin including John McCauley of Deer Tick, The Low Anthem, and Joe Pug.
Looks like I'm doing a two night Woody/JTE/Deer Tick whirlwind of awesomeness in NYC instead of Moog. This is getting out of hand!
Oh shoot. Totally forgot about the Love for Levon show. Is there a thread for that? Anyone going? It's a tad far for a weeknight, but I think it might be worth it... Don't mind me. I just googled it. Sorry for asking
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Sean- we are on the floor, row O on the aisle. Seems like the views will be good from anywhere in that place.
We'll have to meet up for a drink beforehand.
Definitely. It's a Saturday and a late show. I'll have plenty of time to kill beforehand. When it gets closer let's see what our plans are looking like.

This season promises to be a another great one, showcasing the eclectic range of WFUV’s artists. Opening night will present one of the finest and busiest young songwriters of our time, John McCauley. He will perform with his principal band, Deer Tick, along with friends from side projects including Middle Brother and Diamond Rugs. This is sure to be a rocking show. I just booked my lodging for Friday/Saturday! I need to buy my show tix, but there's plenty left to both the Justin Townes Earl show on Friday and John McCauley Saturday. I was bummed about having to skip Global Fest and Jay Z in NYC this past weekend, so I decided to take a cheap mini 2 day vacation at the end of the month instead.
I'd be down to meet up for drinks before the McCauley show, since it doesn't start til 10pm.

Not sure exactly. The e-mail just says 2-seats. I think when looking at the seating chart it was on the right hand side but can't remember how close to the front or back it was.
I'm on the left hand side looking at the chart, bout 1/3rd of the way up from the stage. I agree with what was said above though about there being no bad seats in this place.

So far we know members of Diamond Rugs and Deer Tick will be playing as they both have this on their tour dates. Hoping for some other surprises like Felice Brothers, Dawes, Delta Spirit if any are available.
I'm also expecting Justin Townes Earle considering he'll be around and playing with John
Excited to announce that special guests at Carnegie Hall will include: Jason Isbell, Mark Sultan/BBQ, Langhorne Slim, Deer Tick, Diamond Rugs, Adam Cayton-Holland, and maybe some surprises!
