Finished GLOW this morning. I loved it, and it's not really a direct representation of the original of course, but it really works. Great little references only wrestling fans will get, but thankfully this show really isn't about the wrestling... if you're on the fence because of the subject, think of it as a kind of crass wrestling version of A League Of Their Own. The parallels are staggering.
Now I feel compelled to rewatch that documentary from five years ago.
Anyone else seen this? Too Much Tuna was not one of my favorite bits from Kroll Show, but this is great. I would have loved to have seen this live.
And I watched "Okja" yesterday and really enjoyed it... tonally all over the place, I don't know what this movie really was trying to be, but it nearly had me in tears at a few parts. And this might be the worst performance I've seen from Jake Gyllenhaal.

I love Oh Hello. I saw it on broadway and it was, no exaggeration, the hardest I've ever laughed in my life. The show I saw definitely had much more improv in it. They would riff on stuff for a minute or two or wink at the audience a bit. Makes sense that you can't really go off book when there are cameras involved.
And I agree the Too Much Tuna bits are kinda weak on Kroll Show but I love the Gil and George characters so, so much. Their appearances on Comedy Bang! Bang! are incredible.

Really liked Okja. I thought most of the cast was great. Specifically Dano and Yeun, the CGI was good, liked the cinematography, but yeah wtf was going on with Jake? Not sure if it was all on him, or if it was the writing of the character.
granted, if the job of the writers and jake was to make me hate him, they did a great job, but his whole arc felt weird and probably could have done it differently.
I really liked Snowpiercer, this was a good follow up to that for Bong.

I can not believe that the film featured in the opening post of this was the double disc version of Zach and miri make a porno. What on Earth is on the second disc?
Oh it's great. The production value is pretty good for the time, and even though there's some mediocre material from the album he was promoting at the time, there's always something special to any Prince performance. I'd say he was still in his performance prime, before he started really noticeably slowing down in the next 5 years or so. When I was looking for this, it appeared to be a pretty pricey DVD online, but I lucked out and found one for under $10 used at a local record store.
Watch the rest of them too. Bride of ReAnimator is especially awesome
I plan on watching the second one over the weekend.
Just finished The Babadook. Been waiting forever ever for it to appear online. It's a fucking horror masterpiece. I can't remember the last horror film that was this well made and psychologically piercing. Seriously, find a way to see it. It should be out in limited release in the states soon.
