Let me just kick this off by saying that there is truly nothing that I can say on here that would convey what a great time this festival is so if it sounds good to you then you would ben in for a great time. This is a 3 day festival based in downtown Bristol, Tn / VA because the stateline splits the downtown in half w/ one side of the street in TN and the other in VA. Bristol is considered the "Birthplace of Country Music" and truly embraces this by really having an incredibly thriving music scene that frequently brings in national acts. This festival is one of the main reasons for this musical growth simply because of the talent that they bring in every year and the hospitality that is shown by the town and people of this area. One of the things I truly love about this festival is the accessibility to all types of music as opposed to just country/bluegrass. For instance, last year the Saturday night headliner was Robert Randolph who really played a great show and turned a lot of people onto his music that wouldn't have previously been interested. The list of performers who have played this festival is a virtual who's who of folk/country/bluegrass artists to include The Avett Brothers, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Sam Bush, and The Steep Canyon Rangers. Bristol is located right at the base of the Appalachian mountains and provides many outlets for outdoors activities w/ there being many hiking trails and campgrounds. The weather has seemed to cooperate each year and will run about high 80's and lows into the mid 60's. There are a ton of campgrounds around the area or you can stay at one of the many hotels located within a 10 min drive of the festival. I guess that is truly about it from this end. Obviously, would love to see everyone there for one day if not the entire weekend. If you have made it this far, I appreciate you time and as I said hope to see ya in beautiful Bristol.
