This band has been bucketlist for me for over two decades.

I'm keeping this one in the back of my mind. I probably can't swing all 4 days, but I might be able to do a day or two. That's all going to depend on the schedule and the ticketing.
I'm sad that I never got to see Pelican before Laurent left the band. I was really surprised that they didn't disband or at least change the name of the band though because on some their records it has the words "Pelican will always be Trevor de Brauw, Bryan Herweg, Larry Herweg, and Laurent Schroeder-Lebec" on the back.
We're a day early with this announcement, but we can finally let you know where MDF XI will be taking place.
In a nutshell, we will be returning to the property formerly known as Sonar, and will be at least doubling the amount of outside space that we've been used to utilizing. We realize that it's a bit of a mind fuck to wait around for a few months just to hear that the fest is returning to the same place, but truth be told, the other places we looked at were either not able to give us a definite answer anytime soon, and/or had too many inconveniences that we did not want to put the fans through. During the venue search, it was brought to our attention that the new owners of the property were willing to collaborate with us, so we decided to go through with returning to a familiar place that is close to the hotels and conveniences of downtown Baltimore.
The additional space outside will allow us to comfortably accommodate the crowd, and will allow more room for the MDF vendor village, food vendors/food trucks, places to sit, and other new additions like misting tents to escape the possibility of it being hotter than it should be that weekend. There will be two outside stages plus the stage inside. Due to the new configuration outside, the placement of the outside stages will likely be different. As for the building itself, there are some renovations currently taking place, but the rooms will be used exactly how they have been in the past, and it will be air conditioned throughout.
We would also like to announce the addition of a second inside stage at Baltimore Soundstage, which is a 1/2 mile walk away from the former Sonar (at 124 Market Place), and will be used from Friday-Sunday. This will be a smaller show without a barricade that will feature mostly hardcore and punk bands, and it will be scheduled in a way that should not conflict with anything going on at the former Sonar compound. All of the bands for this stage will be included in next week's announcement on October 9th.

The Thursday show for MDF XI is sold out. Due to some of the nasty e-mails and messages we've been reading, it is likely that you've already caught wind of this news. Do keep this in mind: Bolt Thrower prefers to play inside shows, which is the reason they were given the Thursday headlining role. It was either book them for Thursday or not book them at all. Sending us e-mails telling us to fuck off and how stupid it is to have them on Thursday isn't going to get you anywhere. A more appropriate approach would be to keep your eyes glued to our message board in the coming months, as inevitably, people must cancel their plans to attend and sell their tickets to others. Furthermore, Bolt Thrower is playing at least one other show while in the US, so MDF isn't your only option to see them.
Regarding Soundstage ticket availability - If you did not get a multi-day pass that covers Soundstage access, we will be releasing single day tickets for each day on October 31st, which is when a list of bands for each day of the festival will be posted. Consider this a fair warning if you still want access to the bands at Soundstage. Will these sell out? Yes. Will they sell out in a matter of days? We have no idea. Just go to the website on October 31st and get single day tickets for Soundstage if you want to be on the safe side.
Some of the hotels we've been in touch with aren't giving much of shit for a discount, so we're still working on it. When we have some news in this department, we'll post it.
A friend of mine and his womarn are going. They might be the biggest Venom fans in US (at least top 10). Pretty sure they're going to try to smang Cronos at some point during the weekend.
As we said last month, we expected to have an answer sometime in December regarding the possibility of releasing more tickets for the Thursday show at the former Sonar compound. Well, the answer is YES, we will be releasing more, including a small amount of 4 day passes (for former Sonar compound only). These tickets will go on sale on January 15th at 12 pm (EST).
The stage arrangement we'll be using will allow for a larger capacity on Thursday, but will still serve as the "inside" stage with an intimate feel. This same stage arrangement will likely be used for the remainder of the weekend, as we feel like the main room everyone has been used to for years is becoming too small for certain bands, and some of the recent renovations in that room are not designed for what we're used to working with. In the coming months, we'll go into more detail about how things will be set up next year. For now, just know to converge at the location below in the city of Baltimore, USA:
