one of best friends is toying with the idea of going to bonnaroo. she is also, however, really wanting to go to jazz fest, but won't be able to do both.
i've told her about the payment plans for the Roo tickets, and i even offered to help pay for the ticket if it meant she'd go. she's still not sure which one she wants to go to.
"Jazz fest is great but there's TOO much going on every day... you'll be way more upset when you missed 100's of music acts you wanted to see instead of only being marginly upset that you had to miss 20 bands at roo..."

tell them that at Jazz Fest you will have to pay extra for a hotel, worry about getting there at night, and the complete freedom that is Bonnaroo won't be there.
at Bonnaroo you could pass out in the crowd at a show and nobody would bother you (other than maybe carrying you out of the crowd to sleep on the grass), you could get as crunk as possible and not worry about getting pulled over on the way home, and there are grassy hills to relax on under a big tree listening to delightful music
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

areyoukind...that's all true. her and her bf would have a good friend to stay with, though, so the hotel isn't an issue. i've already brought up transportation issues. you bring up some good points though!
Bonnaroo is freedom. You don't have to worry about anything. You just pick which direction you'd like to walk, and you start walking in that direction. Where are you going? I don't know, but you'll find something awesome to do when you get there.

i love this
This is a good thread because I need some advice to convince my friends too! I just don't get it, how could you NOT want to go to BONNAROOO!!??!?
its hard to explain to someone who has never been to a festival like bonnaroo that it is different from anything else. i'd gone to acl for a couple years before hitting up my first bonnaroo, and i was blown away at all the differences.

I read this on another thread but I'll reiterate it here because of it's relevance to the topic at hand.
It's best not to try to convince someone to go to Bonnaroo if they're on the fence about it. The reason is that there are many potentially negative variables involved. (heat, roughing it, dust or mud, annoying person or people, not into some of the bands, traffic, money) I think it takes a special sort of person to get the most out of the Roo Experience. And if your friend is just not into it they have the potential of dwelling on the neagatives and ruining your good time. I think it would be better to go alone with my good vibes than drag along someone who has bad vibes.

JMHO
Like your logic. Don't try to force her into going, just throw some good vibes her way and maybe she'll sway.
My parents had the chance to go to woodstock, they were in their early 20's when it went down...but they decided not to. Why? Too much of a hassle at the time I guess, but they regret it now, a lot. Sometimes you've just got to grow some balls and suck some experience out of life, there's no way you can go to Roo and come out empty handed. For my friends and I it's either go to Roo, or sit at home for 4 days knowing their is a fest going on 6 hours away and we were too stubborn to make the trip.
