Country legend’s FINAL tour to visit approximately 60 cities Plans to record a new album in the near future.
The Grand Tour will visit approximately 60 cities in 2013.
The legend also plans to record a new studio album for the fans, and Dolly Parton has been writing songs for him.
I would like it if this were to happen at Roo. This would be a great Sunday - Daytime show ! Like the Beach Boys 2012 time slot. And if Dolly performs along side him for a few songs ... Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!
I saw George Jones perform live once in Macon, GA in the early 1980s. I was in the front about 6 feet from him...it was a nightclub venue. He was pretty well hammered, but could still sing and give a good performance. I would love to see him on the farm.

If they can make it happen, I think they're going to do what they can to make it happen. He and Dolly are the last of the country legends left who haven't played Bonnaroo.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, considering the lethal combination of old man and TN weather. Bonnaroo would be a one way ticket for George. Even if he were to be billed, it's like 20% that shows up for it (and knowing this, I think Roo wouldn't do so). He was supposed to play in my hometown around 6 months ago and missed because of health reasons. He rescheduled to play about three weeks ago, and missed once again for the same reason. I mean, his nickname IS "No Show Jones".
On a positive note, I do remember him being at a festival in Ohio back in 2011! It was an April festival though..

Ah, he'd show at Roo. We have more booze than other festivals.
Saw him in 08... obviously, he's up there in age and his voice isn't what it used to be, but he put a lot of effort and heart into that show. And it was at the state fair of all things... I loved the concert and The Possum is definitely my favorite country artist of all time.
Knowing how Bonnaroo likes to book only the trendiest of shit nowadays, I'd not count on it, however.

You're forgetting that AC booked Darondo this year ....

Booze is the reason he misses those shows. He is out and about in Tenn. Hell he signed the dash of an harley davison f150 I own. He'd show up for a night show.
I'd be there. I'm doubtful about him being on a stage, though. Roo seems to put their country legends in tents. (E.g., Merle Haggard, Kenny Rogers, Kris Kristofferson, Loretta Lynn.) The only exceptions I can think of is Willie Nelson and, depending on whether you consider her a country legend, Bonnie Raitt.
