Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
This is not a band you guys. This is a place where you post the artist you really want at Bonnaroo that you usually don't admit. We get it: around here we all have hard on's for pitchfork BNM (and pretending we don't.) We love bands that we know we're suppose to love like Avett and MMJ and Black Keys and Bon Iver and the rest of the critically-successful-used-to-be-indie groups.
We're at the point where we're friends now you guys. We know that we all have pretty whoopass taste in music. We all love Radiohead. Now let's talk about the artists most people will instantly write off as super lame that you think would absolutely destroy a show on the farm next summer. These are not guilty pleasures, because that implies penance for listening to them. These are the groups most people shrug off and we don't. These are our shameless indulgences.
My shameless indulgence if held to one band has to be Brand New. It really is just more of a pop punk thing in general. I think artists like Jimmy Eat World & Something Corporate fit into this SI too. These bands have always gotten a pretty bad rep based on the brand of music they play. I know a lot of people feel like they're vapid, which is true for some pop punk bands, but not Brand New at all. The word emo is still sorta used like a punchline which is dumb to me. Bands like The Get Up Kids & Hot Water Music are equally beloved by older critics. I really don't think Brand New is too removed.
1- I admitted when I was BMOTM last month that I don't like Avett or Mumford very much.
2- Brand New makes me think of driving down the Palisades Parkway to Northvale, NJ to hang out with rich girls I met working at Hollister...and then being arrested.
Okay make that 3 things:
3- Deadmau5. Yeah, whatever, I like NOM's and UNTZ and Deadmau5 is great for 130am NOM/UNTZ fixes.

Deja Entendu was the cd playing in my car when I got arrested the first time.

Linkin Park, performing A Thousand Suns. For me they're pure high school nostalgia, but when that album came out I secretly hoped they'd get a Roo gig.

Hahahahaha. Sic Transit Gloria was playing when I got arrested in the time I was referencing in that post. I remember because the guy walked up and told my friend (who was driving) "yeah maybe you should turn off the chick music before defending your flying through a red light."

damn flanzo, you have to live pretty damn close to me. the palisades parkway is like 5 minutes from my house and north vale is a few miles away. small world.
I find it hard to predict what will be embraced and what will be scoffed at here, so some of these may not be shameless (and I'm glad you phrased it that way as I don't have any guilty pleasures - don't care what anyone thinks about my musical taste), but these are acts I would see that I think would put on a good show, but are probably not considered "cool":

I saw Brand New like five times between Freshman year of high school and Sophomore year of college. Don't really listen to them much anymore but I could totally get behind a Bonnaroo set.

I spent my teenage years living 5 minutes from the Woodbury Commons in Harriman, but now live in the Bronx. The majority of my friends in college came from Bergen County, though, so I know the area really well.
Should have no shame in wanting Skinny Puppy on the farm, Itrainkitties. I don't see it happening, but damn if they wouldn't make for an absolutely mind blowing late night tent set.

How did blowing through a red light turn into an arrest, Flanz?
