Per their booking agent, alt-J will be playing Thursday. I'm on my phone currently, but I can post a screen grab of the email sometime this weekend if you want me to.

I am planning on it Druid. It might fall on a week where I have something important which makes this conformation even better that I'll at least get to see them once this year.

I just started listening to the album about a week ago. This is the first one of the year that has me excited. Thanks!
I completely believe you because it makes perfect sense.
Calling them now as the 'HOLY MOTHER OF ROO THIS CROWD IS BIG' act of Thursday 2013
That would be cool, but I was really surprised how few people there were at their ACL show in October. Hopefully they've increased more in popularity, now that Juggs listens to them, so that there will be a bigger crowd at Bonnaroo.
I contacted Pokey Lafarge and the South City Three's management asking about Roo and she said to stay posted. Not a yes but not really a no. Could really see them playing a Thursday tent

Hadn't heard of them before, just fell in love. Can't wait to see them at Roo!

Last year I don't think they used any info from the Artist direct page, save possibly the public tweets (so Jeff the Bro will probably go up). IIRC the COS guy called this whole operation "unprofessional" or something.

Yea they give credit to inforoo now. But a lot of times we will confirm something on here and people will go to CoS directly and give them the info....so it's not exactly like he's hanging around here just poaching our findings.

Unless Tame Impala plays on Thursday, but they've really blown up recently, so at this point I kinda doubt they'll play Thursday.
For Thursday acts, I tend to go by bands that my non-music people know. Outside of inforoo, I don't know anyone who has any idea who Tame Impala is. That being said, they would definitely be more of the Thursday "headliner" act like Sleigh Bells, Alabama Shakes, etc.
It's definitely borderline, Dave. But I know right now they're rapidly selling out all these 800- and 1000-capacity clubs they're playing. Then again, so were the Shakes when they played on Thursday, the xx in 2010, etc. I'm just kind of hoping Tame Impala is not on Thursday, because if they are that tent will be nightmarishly packed.

Not that Milwaukee is that perfect measure of this stuff, but Alabama Shakes sold out a 2,500 person venue here before their album came out. Tame Impala was announced playing a 1,000 person venue here about a month ago and the venue hasn't even said anything like "get your tickets quick!" as they usually do when a show is about to sell out. Also, "Hold On" was everywhere last year. To be honest, I don't think the comparison is remotely close.
Edit: Oops, they sold out a ~1,300 person venue last year before their album came out. They then sold out the 2,500 person one this past November. Either way.
They can book sh*t I don't want, too. Just make sure they play during something that I DO want
In all honesty, I like how the undercard is starting to look. I thought they made MAJOR strides with the undercard last year, and they look to be continuing in that vein this year.

I agree that when the Shakes took off last year, they were/are bigger than Tame Impala is now. It's worth noting though, that the Shakes' debut came out in April of last year, so they didn't really start taking off until AFTER Bonnaroo probably already had their schedule slot pinned down. If their album had come out six months earlier, I doubt they would've played Thursday.
Tame Impala is blowing up NOW having released their album a few months ago, before they've finalized the schedule or announced the lineup, so I could see it going either way as far as whether or not they play on Thursday.

I think you could have sold me on any headliners attached to last years undercard.

I emailed Minus the Bear's management about playing Coachella or Roo and got this response
"hi alex - thanks for reaching out. we aren't sure if we will be playing either of these festivals in 2013 but will certainly release the info as soon as we know.
