Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I am always amazed at the number of fellow Canadians I meet every year at Bonnaroo. Coincidently last year when we crossed the border into Buffalo, the car in front of me at customs was also en route to Bonnaroo, as displayed in writing on their rear windshield.
Although Roo 2013 will only be my 3rd Roo, I can tell you the time I spent obsessing over the details in preparation for Roo 2012, has made me somewhat of an expert on the matter of all things Roovian. I organized and planned out all details for 10 people (7 Bonnavets and 3 Bonnarookies)to travel two countries to the farm, and I would LOVE to share my knowledge to help take some of the intimidation out of any fellow Canadians who wants to take his/her first of many excursions to Bonnaroo.
Especially for people thinking of RVing, I can tell you many many many ways to save tones of money.
Also I want to hear from any Canadians who have already started planning for their annual June trip to the farm for 2013! I got my pre-sale tickets already and cannot wait to start my journey!

Interested in the cheapest way to RV at Roo. I'll either be leaving from Nova Scotia or Toronto. Always wanted to RV at Roo but the costs are way too high.

I love seeing other Canadians heading South! Last year we saw a van full of fellow Roo'ers on the 401! We played car tag, and honked back and forth for about 45 minutes! It really heightens the excitement. I've recently relocated, so I'll be flying in this year. Part of me is really going to miss that road trip. Although around hour 13 no one was really all that happy. That 4am shop in Murfreesboro Wal-Mart is always relatively unpleasant........but of course everything is forgotten the second we get near the farm
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
Well let me use Toronto since that’s where I left from for Roo 2012. By this time last year I already had the RV booked, but like I said before I was obsessed so I think you’ll be fine date wise.
The total cost of the RV rental was $1722.69 CDN! (inc tax)
All costs listed are in CDN and are exact only because I am reading them from my CC statement.
There are some tricky things with RV’s that end up making them expensive;
1) 1 week rentals get you 1,000 miles, additional miles cost $0.30-0.40/per mile
When RVing, the trip is half the fun so you want to maximize your RVing. So I rented the RV 500ish miles from the farm which was in Columbus Ohio. Do That.
2) There is probably a 50/50 chance you’ll F up the RV
When you are literally flooring it through a car cluttered field Monday morning to keep from getting stuck in the mud, you’ll be happy you opted in for the full insurance ($248.58).
3) There is a $3-4 per hour cost for the generator
The generator keeps the fridge cold, the A/C pumpin, the lights on, and the water pump working (toilette flushing) while the RV isn’t running. We used approx 13hrs/day and it only totaled $274.59.
4) RV’s guzzle gasoline like I guzzle soft American beers at Bonnaroo
Not only will shortening your trip to accommodate the millage constraints, but it will also save you on fuel costs. Even 2 vehicles traveling from Toronto to Ohio was cheaper in fuel then one RV trip of the same distance. Our total fuel cost from Ohio to Manchester and back was $700.74.
5) I’m in this RV, so where is my car
Remember no matter where you get your RV, unless you’re getting dropped off you’re going to have to find somewhere to park your car. I used a small RV rental place where we could leave 2 cars locked up in their fenced compound for FREE! Roo ’11 I parked in an airport parking lot which ended up costing me an extra $80. Bad Time.
6) I’m thirsty... not for beer
You will need Water for your RV, and your life, but think of it like your 2 fat friends in the back of your old Honda Accord, no pick-up. Traveling with a full water tank will cost you more in fuel. You can fill up ($15) at any # of Flying J type places along the interstate near Roo. It costs $50 for a fill up of wateroo once you enter Roo, and you might have to wait around the RV for hours to wave the water truck down when you want it.
7) I gotta poop
Of course you do, and pooping in RV opulence is 70% of the reason you really wanted to get the RV am I right? Am I right? Use the RV for only #2’s and you’ll avoid having to wave down the Bonnapoo truck, at a cost of $50. Make it out of Roo to dump your poo at a Flying J for $7.
8) RV rental people also know there is a 50/50 chance you’ll F up the RV
Most RV rental places require a $1000 damage deposit. Get the earlier mentioned insurance to make sure you get that grand back.
I hope that’s a good starting point. I do not recommend the larger US RV rental places, the RV we got was immaculate when we got it and had all the bells and whistles. I feel like I’ve just scratched the surface of Bonnaknowledge here.
Most times I feel like posting in the threads this is like jumping into the ropes of some double dutch. I just don't have the gusto to say my 2 cents. I Love reading though, I visit this site the most of any and it's only January.
I am just so jacked for B-Roo this year I had to say it and this was the only place I felt easy doing it.

Nice! I'm heading from just northeast of Toronto for my 3rd!! We've always wanted to make more stops, but it's hard for people to get that time off work. We went to the Louisville Slugger museum 2011 and it was well worth the detour.
We have a buddy moving down to Nashville so this year we're making a committed effort to head down a bit early to see some sights. I can't wait!!!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
This year will be #3 for me as well. I take a good amount of vacation around Roo because I like to take in every possible second. I left Sunday night my first year and... yea I wont do that again. I cannot describe how much anxiety I avoided by getting pre-sale tickets this year. This year will also be my first year camping, first 2 were spent in an RV, but truthfully I feel like if I wanna truly experience it like the majority do. I could rarely find my way back to an RV though so I don't know how I'll ever find a tent... Too excited to care really. Leaving in 145 days.
So. 5 minutes researching on Autotrader how much to sell my car for... followed by 35 minutes of looking at the price of used RV's from pre this millennium. 133 Sleeps.
