Joliet is a shiz hole with nothing going for it except river boat casinos. Plus it's about an hour drive from the city if you're lucky. What a missed opportunity if that's the case.
Maybe they'll do it where they did Wavefront musicfest, which was on Montrose beach. Not sure how that was set up or the capacity, but if that's the case I'm walking there everyday
Montrose beach would be a stellar location and not just because it's like a 10 minute walk from my house. There's some genuinely great views. I bet capacity would be fairly small though.
Then, you should go to one of the EDC events one day. I'm not big into the EDC events, or non-camping fests, but I will be amused by all of the kiddos running around.
Plus, I can't pass up my opportunity to kidnap Phi.
One day I want to go to one of these EDC events just to see how many times I nearly break my neck swiveling my head to look at whatever scantily clad kandi chick just happened to wander past. I see the pictures from these things and it blows my goddang mind the things people wear.
It's kinda hard to spot the kandi chicks in the sea of bro. It's like catching a prize marlin in a hurricane.

Having gone to Electric Zoo the past few years (individual days), I can confirm that it's both mystifying in that these girls who seemingly range in ages from 15-30 all look the same and are all wearing ridiculously revealing outfits (god help me if I have a daughter), as well as the fact that so many brotastic brosifs are hounding said kandi chicks trying to get laid in a port-o-potty bathroom.
It's like a mating dance for MDMA-induced chimps or something.
I am going to be there. Debating Camping passes, since I only live about 20-30 minutes from there. BTW, this place is perfect for this. Joliet does not have the noise ordinances that Chicago does so it can go much later. The track is relatively new, and I have been in the infield a few times. The place is huge. Fields all around it, so camping is a great option.
Only downside is that if you do choose not to stay in a hotel, it is 1 4 lane road in, 1 four lane road out. If you are looking for hotels, Joliet has a bunch with Casinos, but you will find cheaper hotels anywhere else along I-80.
C3 is apparently pissed, as Lolla is having a lot of trouble finding anyone to play in Perry's tent due to restrictions.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I also have no idea how big EDC will be or what kind of money it will bring in, but seeing how insanely massive the crowds were at Perry's at all hours of the day last year makes me think Lolla could shell out quite a bit...? I don't know.
I cant believe EDC in May would have any affect on Lolla in August.
A friend who would know.
According to them, the problem stems from Lolla's radius clause, which is brutal. No shows within 300 miles 6 months prior or after. Insomniac does not restrict them in this way, so Artists are open to play EDC, Spring Awakening and North Coast if they want. Also, they can play in Detroit, Indianapolis, and Milwaukee, all of which have festivals as well, (although somewhat smaller).
So yes, EDC in May directly affects Lolla in August. Don't get me wrong, Perry's tent will still be there and they will still have decent artists, but it will be more C3 friendly artists that are willing to give C3 the right to control their access to the 300 mile radius around Chicago for 9 months.
