ok, this will sound pretty generic but this will be my third bonnaroo and i want to know some ideas on what to do for a camp this year? Last year I brought a swingset and set my hammock up in it and im just wondering if anyone has any nifty ideas. I think well bring four or five cars in our group so hopefully we have a decent sized area to work with. I just want to do something besides setting a tent up-thats just boring!!
I made a bunch of tie dye tapestries before roo this year and clipped them around the pop ups to make a shade cave. Worked amazingly.
The tapestries were made from white sheets from local thrift stores, 1-2$ each, and got some die and youtubed some videos on different ties. They came out great, and kept the place very cool during the day. Actually, because I took all my blankets and wrapped them around the coolers inside the tent, I didn't have to get ice once all weekend. Yes, my ice lasted all 4 days.
P/S: I think there may be a thread or 2 that has lots of different cool ideas. Have you checked those? or are you looking for something different?
5 cars wide you can use 10 EZups and make the most kick ass of camp caves with about 20 tapestries (or just get dark sheets). Like building a fort with couch pillows (you know you've done it)
Buy a marine D-cell battery ($90) and a small 400w converter($25) and you got power! Buy some cheap red and green laser off Amazon ($30) and some LED lights, with the battery, gotta go with LED lights, and you can have a cool trippy camp. I love coming back to camp with some cool lights and visual stimulation entertaining my brain.

How long will the marine battery power last?
There is an equation to figure this out, but I can not remember it. I would have to look for it, but I got my Batt from Walmart for like $90 and it lasted all weekend. That is with lasers and some LED string lights and non-stop FREE phone charging. I would try it at home and see what you can run and how long you can run them. Either way, I was very happy with what I got and use it at every fest I go to and you can ask anyone who has camped with me, I like visual stimulation and my camp is very well lit. ;D
My campmate and I used LED string lights this past year and they worked out really well. They were solar powered and since the sun is plentiful at Roo you shouldn't have a problem keeping the suckers charged. The best thing about the string lights is that it provides a sufficient light source at night without turning on the super bright laterns that could annoy neighbors.

I navigate using the Earth's Magnetic Lay Lines plus there is always some wook passed out at the end of the row I am on and his friends are letting people draw on then with a sharpie for corn or $

If you dug a big hole in the earth and then lined the hole with aluminum foil and sprayed the aluminum foil with a four-inch layer of Great Stuff expansion foam, and waited on the foam to cure; and then flipped this big foil-n-foam dish over, set it atop the hole, and cut a door in it, you'd have an orange-and-silver igloo, insulated from the sun, pitch dark inside, and kept cool by Mother Earth...

If you or someone else has the battery and/or converter I've got a bad ass laser show to bring. Plus I'm getting a shit ton of el wire to hang up around camp
I really enjoyed my set up last year but i will be improving it each year. I had a truck back up to a EZ up with solar lights attached to it with the addition of tarps or tapestries to created a nice shade camp. I am from TN and know how hot it can be so I actually had a tarp with a reflective side and placed it over my truck and connected it to the ez up. I slept in the truck with a cot mattress in the back seat. My neighbors and friends I met could only sleep in their tents until about 7 or 8 and i slept one day recovering until 1130 with no heat problems. Just make sure the tarp is not directed at neighbors because noone needs more heat. Another idea i heard of and loved last year was to get a 20 gallon container for water or spare refillable jugs and keep in the sun for a warm shower when needed instead of stayin in a long line. Just do it in the woods or on flat land where it does not flow into someones tent.
