I hope no one wanted Postal Service. Esh. They would have probably HL'ed though, huh.
Yeah, I think Postal Service would have been a headliner. No big loss for me. Lolla always gets the big ticket reunions that are touring for the money anyway.

I bought my day pass ticket on a whim the day additions came out. I am a big big fan of Joanna Newsom, she is one of my inspirations and I just couldn't miss out on this show. The last time (and first time) I saw her live was in 2010 in Dallas, and I was lucky enough to meet her after the show. To those new to her: she has an exquisite, unique voice that takes a while for some people to get into. She plays the harp, and piano, beautifully. Not only is her music just pleasing to the ears, but there is an emotional appeal that manages to cling to you. Definitely my favorite lyricist and artist. I would recommend listening to her earliest material first, and moving upward. Some good songs to start with are: 'Peach, Plum, Pear', 'Sadie', & "Good Intentions Paving Company'. I am hoping she will play a new song at the festival, and... this may be pushing it since she hasn't played it live since the release of her second album, 'Ys', but also hoping she will play 'Only Skin' (and 'Sadie', 'In California', 'Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie', 'Sawdust & Diamonds') :-)
I cannot wait for this festival (though I am only going for a day!)! Still debating whether I should drive there (from Dallas), or take a Greyhound.
I'd prefer the bus over driving if I'm going alone. Gives me an option to sleep.
I am actually going with a friend (so i still get a chance to nap, though i prefer to stay up), but driving seven hours out of fourteen still doesn't sound very pleasant... and not having a car in Chicago to get around sounds like a pain. Decisions, decisions. I feel like I'd spend the same amount on both, I just need to decide soon to plan ahead! It's dealing with either a long drive (that comes with the fun pit stops), or getting around in Chicago. Opinions? Has anyone ever driven from Dallas to Chicago?

I've not done that particular drive, but I would definitely drive with a friend for 7 hours vs taking a bus with a friend. More control of your experience, no worrying about schedules, plus you'll have a car upon arrival!

Yeah, I'm with CKS. I think driving with a friend will just work out better. You never know how delayed a bus is going to be either. And depending on where you're staying the car just might be in the way. Find a good parking spot (be careful about signs with parking rules) and pick it up the next morning or whatever.
