My vacation is already allotted out for the rest of the year. Can't afford to fly/stay in Chicago anyway right now. And if I could afford to drop that much money right now, I would have dropped it on the deposit for One Big Holiday Mexico run in January.
July 19 Chicago IL @ Township / Pitchfork Pre-Party ^ July 20 Chicago IL @ Pitchfork Fest ^ July 20 Chicago IL @ Reggies / Pitchfork Fest Afterparty w/Pissed Jeans^
And here are little hand held schedules that include a grid since Pitchfork never releases anything like this. End times are estimated and based on what has happened in prior years. Blue always runs behind so except the final 3 or so bands on Blue to probably start 5-10 minutes later than what's listed on the schedule.
End time is 10 PM and pretty firm. If you want to get ahead of the crowds leave around 9:40/9:45 to get on the train/bus (otherwise you might be waiting for a few buses/trains). If you're taking the bus north walk a few blocks south of the festival and that way you'll get on before it makes a stop at the festival. If you're trying to get a cab also walk south to the end of the festival and then east. Cabs can be tricky as so many people are trying to grab them.
Friday, July 19 Savages and Sky Ferreira with Special Guest DJ @ Lincoln Hall Foxygen with Gauntlet Hair and Gambles @ Schubas Merchandise and Daughn Gibson @ Bottom Lounge Saturday, July 20 Waxahatchee with carbonleak and Guest @ Schubas Trash Talk/White Lung @ Bottom Lounge Mac DeMarco/Ex Cult/OBN IIIs @ Empty Bottle Sunday, July 21 Autre Ne Veut with Empress Of and Evian Christ @ Lincoln Hall Parquet Courts @ Bottom Lounge
I am interested in pretty much all of those, so I'm good with whatever everybody else is doing. Especially if I can cut out some conflicts. Is it hard to get tickets to these shows? Where/when do we buy them?
just a heads up for anyone that hasn't been or doesn't know chicago - those bottom lounge shows are only 2 blocks away from the festival (they also have a great beer selection if that's your thing).
I'll be at the Trash Talk/White Lung show on Saturday and will also be trying for the Savages Lincoln Hall show with Sound Opinions on Thursday as that Friday show with Savages has 4 bands/DJ's and will go until 2 AM and I'm old (how I can stay up until 3/4 AM at Bonnaroo and not in the city I live in? not sure).
Empty Bottle is also pretty close - just over 2 miles - but the Lincoln Hall is a little bit more of a trek. Cabs are probably your best bet for Empty Bottle (or walking) and Lincoln Hall is about 30-40 minutes via 2 trains.

As tempting as it would be to see Savages and/or Waxahatchee and/or Autre Ne Veut in an actual club as opposed to 95 degree humid-as-balls heat, I'm not really missing anyone I'm dying to see during any of their set times so I'll probably skip their after shows to save some money. Likely going to get a Parquet Courts ticket for Sunday night, though.
I think the plan for today is Savages/Fri and Wolf Eyes/Sat. Skipping out on Sunday as cash is kinda tight and we fly out on Monday morning. If Savages doesn't work out, Merchandise is it.
The Savages and Autre Ne Veut aftershows at Lincoln Hall are sponsored by Chipotle, which apparently means free tacos? That's probably worth the price of admission right there.
The after shows have a limited amount at the door. Probably cheaper, too. I just didn't wanna get shut out of both of the Savages shows. That's probably my biggest conflict and I would rather see them at the Lincoln Hall anyways.
Wolf Eyes isn't an official after party.
