I guess it depends what you mean by group? Like I already have my 3-day pass and am down for a meetup, but I have to figure out logistics and all that jazz.

Honestly, that's a good idea. There wont be that many restaurant opportunities over the weekend. Thursday would be a good day to get to the must haves.
Well, I've never been to Pitchfork. Its something that I've always wanted to do, but tickets sell out very quickly, and I've never remembered. I have however been to union park for North Coast, and thought it was a great venue. Small and easy to to maneuver, but the stages were set up in a way that really eliminated sound bleed from stages with simultaneous acts. I would imagine that Pitchfork is set up very similar. I answered like that because Lolla is a way bigger beast than Pitchfork, and thought of it as an odd comparison.
I've heard they use the same set up for Pitchfork. I hear Pitchfork gets very crowded though. Plus it's in the middle of no where.
Comparing Lolla and Pitchfork is like comparing apples and hamburgers.

I know this reply is way late (just visiting this thread for the first time now), but I wanted to clarify that P4K is not in the middle of no where. It's very easy to get to the festival by train or bus from anywhere in the city. 1st Midwest Bank Amphitheater in Tinley Park is in the middle of no where.
When do they historically release the line up? I'm pretty pumped, regardless.
We're pleased to announce that the eighth annual Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago's Union Park has been scheduled for Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21. Get excited! The lineup will begin being announced in mid January. We're also happy to present a holiday ticketing special for those interested in securing spots early.
It won't even be half of the final lineup, but I think the headliners are usually announced in the first round. At least they have been the last couple years that I know of.

I talked to the marketing director of the Michigan Renaissance Festival and he said that they couldn't book David Bowie because he was already locked in for Pitchfork.

Lame. With Bowie's penchant for tights I thought he was almost certainly going to be at MRF.

MRF clearly can't handle this.
Actually, the talks stalled after Bowie wouldn't back down from demands that the festival rename itself the Michigan Renaissance in Space Festival. The Wenches Union threatened a strike if they were forced to wear astral attire. Things disintegrated from there, naturally.

I read that, but I'm taking it with a grain of salt. Remember, p4k is the masters of "oopsie". They announced a festival and forgot to tell everyone it was cancelled till the week before.

Hmm I guess I didn't realize that. I'm still thinking (hoping?) it'll be by the end of this week. Want to say it was a Thursday or Friday the past couple years, but I'm not too sure on that.
I just went looking for it and they have erased all mention of it on the site. It was a festival to be held in NYC that was an interactive music/gaming/video festival to take place throughout the city.
They cancelled it the week before it was supposed to go down.
If I remember correctly, it was March 9th(?) the initial was dropped. I've got my fingers crossed for Friday. Primavera releases on Monday. If all else fails, it could give is a few names if they wait.

I just looked it up and it was February 28th. I got thrown off thinking it was Jan. 19th because that's when last year's thread was started and the OP had the acts in the first post. Didn't realize until now it was edited.
Sh*t, maybe you're right and it will be a while. Six months does seem a little early, no?
It seems a bit early but I could see them announcing some stuff very soon. I honestly don't know if they sold out last year. They could be trying to correct that. Even if they just gave us a few names, I'd be ok with that.
I've been trying to cross refrence the P4K Paris/Primavera and P4K Chicago linesup's from the past 2 years to knock out any potential repeats.
