This is why I love Bonnaroo and Inforoo. I didn't previously know about Swans, read what's been posted here, got intrigued, and listened to The Seer last night. It rocked my cockk off. I'm not a hardcore fan, but their experimental rocking just hit me where it feels good. Much like Puscifer last year, I look forward to this show.

check out Soundtracks for the Blind and My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky
Kill Your Idols documentary should still be on Netflix. Starts with the Swans era post-punk no-wave movement with plenty of interview from Gira. Enjoy.
re: National vs. Swans. Apparently Divine Fits is Sunday as well. ****ing ****.
Is this band kidding me? Most frightening, intense thing I've ever heard.
I would like to see at least some of their set but if they do indeed conflict with The National I'm going to have to miss most, if not all of it.
And wait...What are they going to play like 4 songs?
Likely something around 4-5 songs, however, some of those songs go one for over an hour. One of the songs they do now, The Seer / Toussaint Louverture song / Oxygen, can apparently last an hour and a half to two hours!

Listening to Swans makes me wanna be a better man. Seeing Swans live on the farm will make me want to go and figure out how to cure cancer. Can't wait.

I imagine I'll pop in on their set for at least a few minutes, then get out of there before the noise turns me inside-out.
Just hoping Tame Impala and Swans don't conflict on Sunday. I'd love to see Baroness -> Swans -> Tame Impala all in the same tent, that would be amazing
Thing is, a whole hell of a lot more people have been wanting Bjork in recent years, so her being booked was more of a matter of when, not if. I don't think many people (myself included) realistically expected Swans to get booked. To me, that really means something... how Swans have gotten so popular recently with a new audience is beyond me, but I'm really fucking happy it happened.
To Be Kind Avatar She Loves Us Coward The Seer Improv
or
To Be Kind Avatar She Loves Us Coward The Seer Nathalie The Apostate
I'll need to check out the deeper cuts at some point, but if they play "Mother of the World" and "Avatar" I'll be happy. I would hope they have a special setlist in mind for this.
