There used to be dedicated bus service from art center to atlantic station...i would hope there will be for this, but it is marta.
There is still the dedicated bus line. It is a requirement by Obama because the parking structure takes up so much land. On a typical weekday there is 2 buses nonstop rolling.
It's not that people have problems on it, the problem is there isn't enough of it and it is poorly run.
What it should look like
What it looks like
This exactly. Marta is not where you are and doesn't go where you want to go. Even when I lived near the Little Five/Candler Park station, I barely used it, unless I was going to Falcons game. If you can't drive or trying to avoid driving, you pretty much have to taxi to or from the Marta station. If you have to do that, you might as well taxi all the way. There are theories out there about how public transportation in Atlanta is keeping it as a good city instead of a great city. I won't go into the racism aspect of it all. Anyway, ATL is still awesome, everybody will enjoy it, and I love the hell out of it. Just use Uber.

Exactly, I live in the Highlands and for me to take Marta I either have to uber it to Midtown(can't leave a car there for any length of time), drive away from where I'm going to Decatur, leave my car there and be able to drive afterwards, or drive somewhere like Linbergh.
If I'm going to the Falcons or Braves that would exponentially increase my travel time while not reducing my carbon footprint and costing my more money overall.
Even to Atlantic Station I would uber it. I uberX'd to center stage for phosphorescent last weekend for $16 round trip

MARTA was most useful for me anytime I needed to get to the airport when I was at Tech. The rail has improved in recent years, but the bus can be hit & miss. I rode the bus from Piedmont Park to Cabbagetown for Chomp & Stomp a few years ago, and I had no problems on the way there but 30 minutes of waiting at a bus stop on the way home.
It's a shame that Atlanta voters turned down T-SPLOST. We've had years worth of opportunities to improve public transportation, infrastructure, etc. and it's been slow going.
Anyways, back to Shaky Knees. My wife and I are thinking of going, but we may do CounterPoint instead.
Atlanta has one of the worst public transportation systems in the country. Maybe the worst, I can't remember the report exactly. The taxis are not much better. The best way to get around is Uber. Thank god for Uber.
I hear this all the time. but I've never had any problems with MARTA. I guess you encounter more problems living there.
Unless you count people who drink too much and fall down Marta stairs. Also those who have to sit down for awhile to keep from getting sick or just go on & get sick in their rain boots.

Think the girlfriend and I are dropping out of roo this year. This fest is right up our alley. Does anyone know anything about the VIP for this. It almost sounds to good to be true. Are they saying free lunch and dinner every day and free beer and energy drinks for the entire time? VIP almost pays for itself if that is the case.
Edit: well last time I looked VIP was still only $475. $575 might be pushing it on the value but I can drink like a fish if need be.
Reviving an old thread -- what is the likelihood of this selling out? I am a proscrastinator. So if I wait until mid-late April will I still be able to get tickets at a reasonable price?

I wouldn't sweat it. I have no inside info whatsoever, but I'm guessing you'd have no problem getting a ticket somehow (Craigslist, etc) even if it sells out.

Does anyone have any more detailed info on the setup of this? I know it's gonna be in the back lots behind Atlantic Station, but will there be grass or places to sit at all? I remember seeing a pic of a stage for some past DaveFM show where there was grass in front of a big stage (like in front of Dillards), but from driving around back there and looking at the Google maps views it just looks like gravel lots.

I am getting more and more pumped for this fest. This is not exactly my genre as I am into more psychedelic/weird synth rock vs soulful kinda stuff. I have been forcing myself to listen to shaky knees playlist without changing the song and it is paying off a great deal with the undercards.

haha those were self inflicted problems.
This year the rain boots will be used for their intended use ... Haven't had too much trouble w/ Marta, it's not always the most convenient... but it's pretty reliable and it's super affordable.

No puking in boots allowed this year!
no boot puking and cotton candy flavored vodka will not be allowed at this years Shaky Knees... or any other festies to come. *nods sternly*
