Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Mayo messaged me this morning and said that her group was cancelling going. They probably didn't think to post on Inforoo and I didn't either. I'm sorry. I'm not sure who else was to be going outside of Inforoosters. We have a private FB group so if you will message me, I'll try to get you added.
I plan to be there later this afternoon and hope to be able to meet with everyone.
Thanks a bunch. I still highly recommend ChickABiddy brunch. Now let's get down with Day#2
My favorites, in no particular order, were Modest Mouse, The National, Local Natives, The Hold Steady, Portugal. The Man and Blitzen Trapper. Saw a ton of bands that I'd listened to for a while that I'd never seen before so that was a great treat.
I really like the layout too. I never waited in line for anything or felt claustrophobic. The Dos Equis stage in the back was an awesome spot. We spent most of Sunday there and would hang out there in between random shows. I just wish they would make it easier to get up to the top level--that was kind of annoying.
Only criticism I have is that they need more shade, places to sit and a hydration station near the smaller stages. Other than that I thought it was exceedingly well run.

All in all I think it was a pretty well ran fest. My only issue was with the food later during the day. We are trying a little too hard to support the food trucks in Atl and they can't support whatever thousand that were at the fest. We need fast fest food next year like corn dogs and pizza just flying off an assembly line.

I saw Gordon Gano open for Delta Spirit in a small venue in NYC and I remember talking to Matt Vasquez before the show and he was so excited and shocked that the lead guy from the Violent Femmes was opening for them. He was like a kid in a candy store and watched the show with us in the crowd.
Just back from Atlanta. A few reflections and observations on an excellent weekend.
1. My wife is wonderful - she both supports my occasional wild ideas to travel around the country for concerts or festivals and accompanies me to most, even though she would probably rather do something else.
2. The Replacements were amazing. They were the primary driver in getting me to Shaky Knees and they exceeded my high expectations. A great, energetic show that reminded me why, at 47, I still love live music so much and never want to "retire" from it.
3. Other favorites, in chronological order - The Whigs, White Denim, Cage the Elephant, The National, Lord Huron, Portugal. The Man, Mason Jennings, Blitzen Trapper, and The Hold Steady.
4. Asphalt > Grass when it rains, Grass > Asphalt when it's hot.
5. Pretty well run festival. The paired stages was a good idea - gave plenty of time for every act to get set up with no down time for those waiting for a particular band. If you were waiting at one stage, you could turn and watch the other.
6. VIP Benefits were good (See #1 - need to keep her happy). Free beer, water, and food all weekend and the VIP viewing area for the two main stages was excellent. They didn't oversell it so it was never crowded in any of the VIP areas, other than under the food/beer tents when it rained.
Unfortunately, due to professional commitments I will not be able to attend Bonnaroo this year after being there 4 of the last 5. Shaky Knees was our substitute. I hope that everyone attending has a great time and I hope to be back next year.

Agree on #4 for sure!!
For VIP was it only free beer? I don't drink beer but if they had free wine, I would probably do it next year (although I took in my own wine this time.....). To have shade and seating would have been awesome!!

You know, I'm not sure on the wine. I noticed people paying for mixed drinks but I don't even recall seeing anybody with wine. We were just drinking beer (and the occasional water) so I didn't really pay attention. Sorry I can't help on that one.
Especially on Sunday, my wife took advantage of the lower deck of the elevated platform for the shade and a place to sit, though all they had was a couple dozen folding chairs.
Anyone have a report on Conor's set? I'm heading to Hangout this week and have to decide between him and QOTSA.
I'm not an expert on his material but found his set a little underwhelming. He was sandwiched between Portugal. The Man and The Replacements so may have suffered in comparison, at least in my eyes. Dawes was his backing band. He played a number of new songs. I saw him years ago (as Bright Eyes) and really enjoyed it but this didn't live up to that show. Setting may have played a part - I think it may have been better in a smaller space. I would vote for QOTSA. Have fun at Hangout!

Did anyone else see Mutual Benefit on Friday? They play pretty quiet music and some dude on the next stage started sound checking his drums through the PA system. It was SUPER annoying.
After a song or two of this the main dude in Mutual Benefit leans into the mic and goes, "Hey, guy, why don't you shut up over there? We're trying to make everybody sad out here."
