You can go ahead and call me a douchebag. It's really ok. I deserve it.
Nah, name calling isn't constructive. I just think it's dumb that you've posted multiple times about how the park is gross while trying to be gentle about it. Just say what you're really thinking.
FWIW I agree that the venue change seems odd because it doesn't immediately look like an upgrade. But they had Music Midtown there for years without much of a problem (as far as I can recall) and Shaky Knees has been impeccably run the last two years. No reason to think it won't be the same.
Agreed. My need to be politically correct often ends in my foot in my mouth. That being said, I am pretty stoked that Atlanta has a festival of this quality coming back again. I could do without Music Midtown, so this fills that need!

I'm not surprised by the change in venue. If you watched their social media during and right after the festival, they got a flood of complaints about Atlantic Station for various reasons, most notably the asphalt everywhere.

My initial reaction was, "Whoa, Shaky Knees changed venues again. Central Park, huh? Ok whatever."
After thinking about it I'm really looking forward to walking on grass again. The asphalt was rough last year. I just hope Central Park has better drainage than Piedmont Park. Rain feels like a certainty for this fest.
I'm probably in for SK this year. I planned on it last year then had a scheduling issue but hopefully it'll pan out this time. What was the name of that Inn that a bunch of people stayed at last year?

After seeing how great OutKast was at Centennial and those free concerts a few years back for the Final Four, I wish SK would consider Centennial Park. It really is perfect as far as transportation, space, logistics, lodging, etc.

I love Centennial as a venue. I think it would be tough to harangue another stage in there though. The second stage they had for 420 Fest was considerably smaller than the second stage at SK last year. Everything else about it is awesomely convenient though.

Without the asphalt, the venue is perfect....on paper. I loved having Moes right outside but I just felt like it took a lot out of the festival feel

The Mayo Inn?
lol no, I can't think of the name but someone recommended it to me last year.

A bunch of us did stay at the Highland Inn for a Radiohead show.
I always hear good things about it from out of towners. I keep meaning to go to an event there before I continue recommending it to people who need a hotel.

I know dreamingtree stayed in a hotel. I can't remember which one though.
We stayed at the Residence Inn. We had stayed there before for Music Midtown and liked it - it's not super cheap, but it's nice and has free breakfast
I have the Courtyard Atlanta Midtown/Georgia Tech booked for this year (it was cheaper), but I may have to revise that with the change of venue, depending on if they have a shuttle.
So the ball's in Shaky Knees court this year to have the best line up, right?
I'm just hoping to get Ryan Adams and 4-5 other names I'm really excited about. That will be enough for me. Last minute wishes:
Ryan Adams Sufjan Stevens The Strokes The Dismemberment Plan My longshot wish: Cat Stevens
OK Productions (a promoter in Atlanta) keeps teasing a big announcement for May 8 at Cobb Energy Center... I have a feeling that could be a Sufjan show. Perfect venue for a guy like him, and check out the Twitter exchange from today:
God - I would be SO jealous if Shaky Knees got Sufjan since Roo didn't (I doubted he would actually book a fest like that, but I was hoping anyway). I would love to go to both, but I don't think the dates/location will be feasible for me to make it to SK. :/
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Do we really think Ryan Adams is headliner worthy? I don't know much about him so he could be much bigger than I think but from what I can tell he isn't Band Of Horses/National/Beck level
