Friday: Kaiser Chiefs -> DFA1979 -> American Football -> Strokes
Saturday: Palma Violets -> Black Lips -> Neutral Milk Hotel -> Noel Gallagher -> Spiritualized
Sunday ??? -> Best Coast -> Dr. Dog -> Spiritualized -> Ride -> Tame Impala
Ride was one of the few acts I caught from Cochella's sxm stream that I liked. Jack White and St. Vincent were the others. Everything else seemed like modern American not quite pop because they play it on XMU or Alt Nation. I thought the EDM on electric area was all particularly bad. They mostly streamed house shit which I don't like. Back to Ride, I never heard of them but The set was interesting enough that I'd try to see them too.
Friday: Surfer Blood > ?? > Mitski > Tennis (probably) > The Kooks (probably) >Mac Demarco > Kaiser Chiefs (probably) > TV On the Radio > American Football > Pixies > Strokes > Ride (LN)
Saturday: ?? > Speedy Ortiz > Viet Cong > Real Estate > Black Lips/FIDLAR (more listening is in order) > Built to Spill > NMH > Social Distortion > Wilco/NGHFB > Avetts (i want to avoid like the plague but my friend coming with me is dying to see them) > Spiritualized (LN)
Sunday: Matthew E. White > Steve Gunn > Old 97s > The Both > ?? > Dr Dog > Spiritualized > DRA > Ride > Tame Impala > Lightning Bolt (????)
Worst conflicts for me are: TV On the Radio/Brand New/James Blake - was really hoping to check out all 3 acts since i'm not incredibly familiar with any of them Neutral Milk Hotel/Interpol - if i see NMH at Shaky Knees it will be my 5th time seeing them and i've never seen interpol before. but i'll never be able to see nmh again so they'll probably win out Wilco/Noel Gallagher - this one is the most painful for me. Wilco are a top-5 all time band for me but i'll see them at p4k in july and i doubt i'd ever go out of my way to see Noel. really wish wilco and the avetts switched slots Spiritualized/Panda Bear - going 2 SPZD late night and will probably see panda bear at p4k, but spzd will probably be the winner
the fest did a really great job laying out the schedule though, considering the huge potential for painful conflicts. sooooo happy spzd, dra, and ride are all playing at different times on sunday
For those of you saying you have no conflicts I think you're crazy. I looked over the schedule very quickly and already saw a bunch for me. So far the worst one is by far the Pixies vs James Blake vs Brand New cluster. All of those were on my most anticipated set list. I'll make my schedule when I get home, but it's very conflict ridden.
Friday: TV on the Radio (hopefully) > Brand New/The Pixies/James Blake (I can't decide this one yet) > The Strokes
Saturday: Kevin Devine > Speedy Ortiz > Viet Cong > Metz or Real Estate > Built to Spill > Neutral Milk Hotel > Wilco > The Avett Brothers (partly, at least) > Late Night?
Sunday: Matthew E. White (I guess) > Steve Gunn (he was pretty great at Big Ears) > The Both > Heartless Bastards > Dr. Dog > Spiritualized > Ryan Adams > Ride (maybe) > Tame Impala
Thursday James Blake pre-party (thank baby jeebus I bought this ticket)
Friday Halsey > Two Gallants > Mac Demarco > Kaiser Chiefs > TVOTR > Cry in the fetal position while I choose between Pixies and Brand New > Live with that decision > The Strokes and/or leave early > Portugal. The Man LN

Sunday The Mowgli's > Frank Turner/ Best Coast > Dr. Dog > Panda Bear > Ryan Adams > Ride/ Old Crow > Tame Impala

Re: metz v. real estate, I love their albums but real estate about put me to sleep when I saw them.
So anyone have thoughts about the layout after looking at the map? My first thoughts are that the bottom three stages are in the parking lot of the Civic Center, which I wasn't expecting. And even though it's pavement, it does look like there are a lot of trees around, so maybe that will provide shade to some degree. And I can't tell how big those areas are from Google Earth, but it does seem kinda tight in there for three stages.
I also find it interesting that they put trees on the map to the east of the Buford Hwy Stage when it's actually a huge apartment complex.
This is the first time I've really looked at the park on a satellite map and just realized how weird the location is. So the Buford, Ponce and Boulevard stages are in a parking lot. Awesome. And I predict a huge bottlenecking issue going on as people go from the two stage areas at Central Park/Pine. There was a similar issue at Riot Fest last year and it was a clusterfuck. I feel bad for all those apt complexes right there. They're going to be pissed.

Re: metz v. real estate, I love their albums but real estate about put me to sleep when I saw them.
Agreed. They're one of my ex's favorite bands so I listened to them a lot with him in the first half of 2014 and was excited to see them at Roo, but live they were preeeeeeetty boring. Still think they're great on track, but I would by no means consider them a "can't miss" live act.
So jealous of SK-ers right now. That schedule has some rough conflicts but also makes me sad all over again to not be going. That James Blake pre-party will be INCREDIBLE.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
My boss finally approved my time off for this so I'm finally officially in!
FRIDAY Jukebox the ghost (if I feel like going in that early) > Tennis > The Kooks > Clutch > Kaiser Chiefs > Mountain Goats > Mastadon > Pixies > The Strokes
SATURDAY Hey Rosetta > Go get lunch > Real Estate > Black Lips > Built to Spill > Interpol (unless I can't get a ticket to the local NMH show in a few weeks) > Social Distortion (for a half) > Milky Chance (for a half) > Wilco > Avetts/early night home
SUNDAY The Both > Best Coast > Dr. Dog > Spiritualized > Ryan Adams > Minus the Bear > Tame Impala
I want to see Interpol, but I'm afraid of skipping NMH. I don't think they will tour again for a LONG time
I think that's a safe bet. When I have to choose I always look at how often they tour, the mental status and age of the band members. Based on that, catch NMH
You obviously did not go to the Roo show. But whatever, man, do what you want. Just don't act like Interpol is exciting
Interpol is exciting.
I like them and I've seen hem live and exciting is not how I would describe their show, at all. It's a multitude of qualities of their music that contribute to it but it's mainly his voice and their guitar riffs (they seem to be dragging along/lingering)
Ok, have fun at your snooze fest and I'll have fun at mine
I don't have anything against NMH. I just like Interpol more.
Yeah, I'll probably end up going to nmh first and then to Interpol because I'm seeing nmh right before shaky knees and I want at least a decent spot for Noel Gallagher. The way I chose my words originally made it sound like I was hating on Interpol, that wasn't the intention. I was simply saying that bringing up how boring nmh can be is pointless when you're comparing Interpol because their music/show isn't up-beat either
