I don't have anything against NMH. I just like Interpol more.
Yeah, I'll probably end up going to nmh first and then to Interpol because I'm seeing nmh right before shaky knees and I want at least a decent spot for Noel Gallagher. The way I chose my words originally made it sound like I was hating on Interpol, that wasn't the intention. I was simply saying that bringing up how boring nmh can be is pointless when you're comparing Interpol because their music/show isn't up-beat either
I'm kind of split on it. I like Interpol more and have wanted to see them for a while, but they're not the same band they were when they made their first two albums and I have seen a lot of meh reviews of their live shows. NMH, on the other hand, has gotten a ton of crazy good reviews from people I know who have seen them, and I'm a believer in listening to show advice when I get enough of it that's all positive. Decisions decisions.
The real tragedy is how many people plan on missing the only once in a lifetime band on the lineup
There's a once in a lifetime band?
American Football has played in three cities since they've reunited and I doubt they'll play many more. They're 100% the reason I'm going through all this hassle to go to Shaky Knees instead of a day pass to Big Guava. I have a lifelong connection with this band

Emo kids' love for American Football is insane. I have a friend who feels the same way as you do about them. For me, it's gonna depend on how crowd flow is, if I think I can see some of American Football and still get a good spot for Pixies, I might do it. But I really want rail for pixies. But yes, American football is good and people should give em a listen because if you like them! this will probably be your only shot to see em
I'm not familiar with American Football. I'll give them one album tomorrow. What should I listen to?
edit: nevermind, they only have one album. Guess I'll listen to that...
Hahaha, probably should start with their only full length album. Sorry, it just really cracked me up to answer that question for a band from over 15 years ago only has one album

I was never really an emo kid, my dad actually bought the cd when it came out and he used to play it in the car a lot. When he didn't want it in his car anymore he gave it to me and I used to play it on my CD player. Thankfully my music taste growing up wasn't completely shitty. It's cool that I get to see a band I've loved my whole life
Yeah, that's actually the same reason I'll probably skip them. I've listened to Pixies since I was 6. I can still remember the first time I listened to Doolittle like it was yesterday
Friday: TVOTR, Mastodon, Pixies, Strokes Saturday: Speedy Ortiz, Viet Cong, Metz, FIDLAR, Built to Spill, NMH, Social D/Noel, Wilco, Spirtualized Sunday: Matthew E White, Steve Gunn, The Both, Take a Nap, Diamond Rugs, Spiritualized/Panda, Ryan Adams, Ride, Tame Impala, Lightning Bolt
just got back from seeing neutral milk hotel at a fairly intimate venue. i feel so sorry for anyone who considers them boring or are planning to skip out on them at Shaky Knees because man do they put on a hell of a show. 4th time seeing them and they get better with each show. their set at SK will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the weekend

From what I have listened of Neutral Milk Hotel, they're okay for my taste. I have heard multiple people tell me though that Jeff Mangum puts on a hell of a show. I'm going to go to the set, I know there are good chances it will be my last opportunity to see them....plus there is nothing directly before or after them on the schedule that is in my top 10.
Saturday is my lightest day. Friday and Sunday will be amazing/exhausting for me.
