Will it be possible to get a good spot for The Strokes if I catch American Football and wait out at the main stage the time slot before The Strokes?
Thats exactly what I'm doing. I'd assume with Pixies, James Blake, and Brand New all playing right before it should be easy to get close
That's what I was thinking. Both Pixies and Brand New would draw people in by themselves so them being conflicting against each other before the headliner REALLY helps us Strokes fans get up front. Not to mention the weird ass scheduling of the completely opposite Mastodon opening for them on the main stage. I like Mastodon and I know they're from Atlanta but it's still weird. Reminds me of Slayer being before D'Angelo at Roo this year. Not bad, but different. I'll see you down in front of Mr. Casablancas!

Random thought. Are we assuming the Ponce and Boulevard stages are going to be bigger this year as I can't imagine Wilco, Neutral Milk Hotel and Brand New playing on a stage the size those stages were last year?

Obviously. Basically there are 4 big stages and 1 smaller stage.

Same here. We should be able to hear the Pixies from the other stage right?
I started with Keep It Like A Secret (Carry the Zero is their very best song imo), but I'm of the opinion that Perfect From Now On is their best record
Wouldn't hurt to give their new album a couple of spins either.

I had listened to them a little in the past and I listened to the new one once already. But this is my first time really diving in.

Looking at the map, I would think so. Would you guys be interested in a Pixies sing-along at the Peachtree Stage before The Strokes?!?!?! IF MAN IS FIVE, IF MAN IS FIVE, IF MAN IS FIVE.

Cool article. Even though I'm not seeing any of these band I would go with Brand New. They haven't toured actively for a while and should have new album out in the near future. Pixies are one of my all time favorites but today's Pixies just aren't the Pixies I fell in love with on Surfer Rosa or Doolittle. They obviously got back together solely for $ and Indie Cindy was a complete dumpster fire. "Gigantic" is my favorite Pixies song and Kim Deal is my all time favorite bass player and if I hear it live without Deal, I will just be extremely bummed. Frank Black just doesn't have they same charisma, enthusiasm, and aggression as the old Pixies. Today they just seem like a Pixies cover band. Frank Black should just go back to doing solo stuff. I actually liked his solo albums.
The way it worked at Forecastle was you brought your ticket on the first day and used that to get your wristband at the gate. I'd assume it'll work similarly here.
Feel as though I'm reaching a bit, but FIDLAR gives me an Oh Sees vibe at times
Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Slow down there, yeezy.
Edit: I have been a Black Lips fan for a long time and seen them 20+ times. Right now, I am way more into FIDLAR and I will see them at Shaky Knees instead of the Lips. But, you cannot compare Thee Oh Sees, who are the gold standard of rock n roll music, to FIDLAR.

not really comparing the two more so than saying that there's a Dwyer element to their sound in places

What part of Fidlar is a Dwyer element to you? (I'm not trying to be ugly or argue, I'm genuinely curious because I never thought of that before).
One band that I have seen live that I think can potentially get near Thee Oh Sees' level is Meatbodies. Probably won't, but watch out for them just in case.

I don't want miss Surfer Blood, but that is a crappy spot. 12:30 on opening day, for a half hour. My bus gets into Atlanta at 10:30 Friday morning, I will have virtually been on it all night. Prob going to opt to sleep until 3 or so.
Glad I decided to get PTM tickets when they came out. Thought about holding off and saving a little money until later, knew in the end though I would plan on going.

In a similar boat, I went with the opposite logic. My bus gets in at 10:30 too, after a 13 hour ride. But I can't miss Black Pistol Fire at 1:00, so I'll swing by the hotel, head straight to the fest, and skip PTM that night to crash. Hard. But who knows--if I'm not wobbly, I might look for a PTM ticket that evening anyway.
