Alright, here's what I'm looking at
Friday: Surfer Blood => Black Pistol Fire => Mitski => Tennis/Two Gallants => Wavves => Mac Demarco => Manchester Orchestra => DFA 1979/ TVOTR (kill me) => Mastodon => Pixies/Brand New (kill me) => Strokes => Ride?
Saturday: Kevin Divine => Speedy Ortiz => Viet Cong => Metz => Fidlar/Black Lips/ Devil Makes Three (kill me again) => Built to Spill => Interpol => Social D => Wilco => Avetts => Spiritualized?
Sunday: ? => Steve Gunn => Preservation Hall => Sheepdogs => Heartless Bastards/Best Coast => Diamond Rugs/Dr. Dog => Panda Bear => Ryan Adams => Old Crow => Tame Impala => Lightning Bolt?
My friend I'm going with texted me at 3am saying something along the lines of "since we're seeing Ride and Spritualized late night are we in agreement to skip their sets on Sunday in favor of seeing Trombone Shorty and Old Crow Medicine Show??" Not about that life at all
Three work days, a travel day and then three days to forget the rest of the world exists. Hadn't actually looked at the lineup in awhile until last night. I just have to keep telling myself that the schedule decisions I've made are final and I'll enjoy the bands I see and not think about the bands I won't see.

Hey does anyone know how they do the will call ticket to wristband transfer at the box office? Do we need to bring id's to confirm our names on the will call ticket and do they put the wristbands on for you? I ask because I was going to let a friend go into the box office early this week and try to get my wristband for me since he is already in town.

Two more days of work, I can't wait to hit the road. This will be my first festival where I get to live in style at the same time. I've never not stayed in a tent.

It's a different experience. Both sides has it pros/cons.
Depending on price, I prefer a city/hotel arrangement.
Since it's Shaky Knees week, are we going to make a final decision one way or the other on Brunch?
I also vote yes. However I know nothing of the area so someone else will have to take charge on the when/where. I think Saturday at like 11 or 11:30? Speedy Ortiz goes on at 1:15, I think that's a lot if people's first show that day.
Oh. And I'm so unprepared to be leaving in 3 days. I don't even have a ride to the bus stop arranged.
My Sunday schedule is completely open until Spiritualized, so can someone suggest some bands for me to see? I'm open to all genres at this fest.
There are really no wrong answers anywhere on the schedule. Wherever you end up is going to be good music. I am going to Matthew E White, Steve Gunn or Mini Mansions, Preservation Hall, Best Coast and Dr. Dog.

I am going to Matthew E White > Mini Mansions (I've seen Steve Gunn before) > The Mowglis > (who knows) > Best Coast (but everything at this timeslot would be a good idea) > Diamond Rugs (Dr. Dog is great too)
edit: The Portugal the Man opener is Small Reactions, checking them out now and I'm liking it.
Small Reactions is one of my favorite Atlanta bands that hasn't really blown up yet. They play a lot around Atlanta and always put on a good show. Definitely worth checking out.
Those are his three best studio records IMO, and perhaps the best places to start when delving into his discog. Latter two are with his band the Cardinals. You should check out Gold and his s/t as well, he's been playing a decent amount of songs from each on this past year's tour
DRA has a treasure chest full of quality material. There's something for everyone there
Heartbreaker, Gold, Ashes & Fire, Ryan Adams. What say you, custeph?
All of them. But yes, those four, in that order.
Sounds good! Will definitely check those out before I leave. I'd always been interested in Adams and have liked what I heard but now that I have the opportunity to see him I want to take time to delve into his discography.
I had worked hard to repress the memory of that. Thanks for fucking it up, dick.
On March 31, Surfer Blood frontman John Paul Pitts, 28, was arrested in Lake Worth, Florida for domestic battery, according to an offense report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. Public court documents confirm Pitts pleaded not guilty on May 4, before obtaining a "plea and pass" agreement on July 13. If he complies fully with a program mandated by the court, his guilty plea and charges will be dismissed in April 2013. When contacted by Pitchfork, representatives for Pitts offered no comment. According to the incident report from March, the victim in the case was Pitts' girlfriend of one year. From the report: The victim stated on today's date, Pitts and herself returned from an evening out. An argument pursued because she called a friend, stating she might need a place to stay. Pitts went into the bathroom and stated he was going to harm himself. When she knocked on the door, Pitts came out, they went into the bedroom, and the arguing continued. The victim stated Pitts grabbed her and flipped her over her shoulder, he then pinned her down by climbing on top of her. The defendant then proceeded to shove his fingers inside of her mouth. In return, she attempted to bite him and he pushed his fingers away. He continued to press his weight against her so she bit him on his chest. The victim stated this has occurred before. She told Pitts on numerous occasions she was going to call the police, but he just laughed. Advised she is not trying to ruin his life. Pitts' arresting officer "observed abrasions and bruises on the victim's left and right arm" as well as a bruise above her right eye. "The victim was visibly shaking and crying," according to the report. The report continued: Pitts advised he did not harm his girlfriend. She always threatens to call the police on him. He was present with scratches and bruises to his chest. A bite mark was observed on the middle portion of his chest. According to the report, both Pitts and his girlfriend "stated they did not need medical attention."
FLORIDA.
God damnit, all the kooks in Florida making me look bad
God damnit, all the kooks in Florida making me look bad
The entire state is a pre-fab, drug-deluded, monster-infested hellhole. It is a scaled, venomous demon in a "Tapout" t-shirt. If you could give a scorpion a sick tribal bicep tattoo and then hide it in an empty can of Four Loko, it would be the physical manifestation of Florida. Just move, there's nothing for you in Florida except disease and ruin.
I plan on doing so asap! The city I live in isn't too bad. The worst of the folks are just old fashioned (read: wealthy and kinda racist) or trailer trash (but that's kept to a minimum) but we stay out of the tabloids for the most part. The only thing we get coverage about is our top football team and that walking headline, Grady Judd (most famous for responding with, "... because we ran out of bullets." when a reporter asked why they used so many bullets when taking down a cop-killer)
