I wouldn't suggest that course of action. It won't turn out well for you.
Regarding The Strokes, it seemed an interesting thing in that basically everyone who I asked about it had their preconceptions confirmed. People who expected to enjoy it did. People who expected to not enjoy it didn't. It was a better show for sure than the previous ones I had seen from them but calling it magical is way too far. I'm glad you enjoyed it though.
You're crazy. They were way better than anybody I was with expected them to be. It was miles ahead of that Roo set and kicked ass.
Last night's show shifted them from a band that is objectively shitty live to one that I just don't like live. It's a more personal thing, and I can completely understand why someone could have enjoyed the show. I just didn't.
Big conflicts today: NMH vs Interpol. Noel vs. Social D.
Two turn of the century indie bands still living off of one good album, a greying punk band which hasn't been great in years, and then one of the most phenomenal people alive on this planet. The only advice I can give is don't miss the man who once described his own brother as "a man with a fork in a world of soup."
You must've never listened to On Avery Island my friend
Does anybody have any explanation on why Noel Gallagher is playing the bigger stage over Wilco? I'm camping out for NMH and losing those spots to go all the way across the park and get okay Noel spots irritates me. You would've thought Wilco would be regarded are more popular in Georgia.
People normally sleep in the fetal position needing less surface area

Day 1 recap: Mac Demarco and TVOR was definitely at the top for me...both were awesome sets. I enjoyed The Strokes, but I'm prob a bigger fan than most. Opening with Reptilla was pretty bad-ass. Portugal the Man set was pretty awesome late last night, but left early cause my feet were killing me...and I wanted to check out some spots in the city.
Light day for me. Excited for NMH and Noel Gallagher....Spiritualized late-night!

Except for the requisite fanboy love, it seems like the most common positive thing I ever hear anyone say about the Strokes live is "better than I expected."
They were legit awesome and the best set of the fest yesterday.
Ended up getting a Friday pass on Thursday... made it to the fest around 4:30 after checking into the hotel and having a tire blow out 48 miles outside of Atlanta (only two times that has ever happened to me on the interstate was going to ATL to see a show), which set us back a couple of hours. All said it was a great experience and I had a blast at every show I saw.
Sat around waiting for DFA 1979 while Kaiser Chiefs played, which didn't impress me at all, honestly. But DFA were even more awesome than I remember them being when I saw them in '05. The technical/tuning problems actually helped the show a bit... gave it a little more personality, I guess. I rocked the hell out at this concert and would definitely go see them again.
Mastodon were amazing. I really wished they could have played for longer than an hour, but every note of the show was worth the trip to the festival. I think this was better than the other time I saw them (Roo 08), as far as performance and sound goes. The dude from Clutch coming out was awesome at the end (forgive me Clutch fans for not knowing his name off the top). Awesome show, and probably the best performed set I saw yesterday.
Never was a big fan of the Pixies, but that show last night rocked. I need to give more of their stuff more chances, as I thoroughly enjoyed their entire set.
I'm sorry guys, but The Strokes were awesome... yeah, some of the banter from Julian was annoying, and there were some performance issues here and there, but the crowd fucking loved it and the setlist was about as good as I could realistically hope. Not disappointed in the least, and actually better than I expected.
I loved DFA, Mastodon, and The Strokes equally, so I can't really say what my favorite set was. Just an awesome time all around.
Only complaints are that I don't like those two other stages being on asphalt in the sun (ungodly hot for May), and there was some serious douchery in the audience, but that's about anywhere nowadays with these type of things. I would definitely go back if the lineup is good enough.
I'm wearing a Blind Melon shirt that has a raccoon smoking a cigar. Come say hey!
edit: jk I'm wearing a grey Wilco shirt. It's the one you can buy at the merch stand. Today is way too hot for a black t-shirt. I'll keep you guys posted on future outfit changes.
Did anyone catch James Blake? He would've been my number one yesterday if I were there.
I passed by a few times. He was under a tent and the light effects were absolutely sick. Wish I could've seen him but we just had too good a spot for the strokes

Same! Missing him is one of my biggest regrets of Roo last year. I'm really hoping he's at Boston Calling in September
I'm going to watch half of Devil Makes Three, then the last half of Fidlar. Once I leave towards Fidlar I will be in the area opposite of the main stages until Noel. Wearing a Martinsville Speedway tee shirt and a Reds hat. Come say hi, unless you plan on dick punching me...

Hey Gallagher. How about you put out an solo album that somebody actually gives a shit about before you talk shit about the other bands playing. Fuck that guy
