Didn't see a thread for this so I figured I would start it with this little tidbit of news.
I was hanging with Questlove back in late September, and he said both parties were very interested and trying to work out the details of him curating the Superjam again this year. Haven't hopped back on the board much since then as I'm usually only posting actively February-June. It kind of slipped my mind.
Take it for what its worth, because who knows what could have changed since then...but yeah. If I'm right, someone owes me a pesto mozzadilla and a hug. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry.

He plays with a lot of people on the late show with the roots, so can't base it off last night. Truly awesome stuff, though that they are tremendous musicians. Would love to see him curate the superjam with jimmy and trombone shorty.
As much as I loved his set last year, I hope it's Dave Grohl's Sound City with guest artists. If you look at the acts he has on the album and the acts that are rumored to be at Bonnaroo, there's a massive overlap.

I have a theory that Hall and Oates will be playing this year. I also have a theory that Superjam will be similar to an episode of Live from Daryl's House.
Love me some Hall and Oates but that show tends to suck.

did you not see Darryl Hall & Chromeo at bonnaroo 2010?

I'm down for some Les. I think Questo, Jim James and Les would be a superjam for the ages. Maybe bring out Trombone Shorty and some Preservation Hall Jazz band (or Galactic) for a minute. That would get hot.
I also think it would be cool to see some superjam with Quest and Zach from Death Grips. Quest is so precise and Zach has a really frenetic style. It would be cool to see them work in tandem. Or it would be a mess. Either way, it's something you're probably only going to see on the farm (or maybe on Jimmy Fallon).
If Wilco is there Im still hoping for a Mermaid Avenue super jam with Wilco and Billy Brag
While I think if Wilco is there Nels would be extremely likely. I had the same thought for Jeff as you, or if there is some sort of Macca/Beatles inspired theme I'd like to think Jeff and Nels would be involved.
Remember last year there were talks of that bluegrass Superjam, but it wound up falling through? I know it's way less exciting than Jim James + ?uestlove, but I have a feeling that be happening this year.
On of these days there will be an EDM superjam. Am I the only one who thinks this will happen one day? Probably not this year though
Don't you need actual musicians for a Superjam?
I guess, but it wouldn't surprise me if Bonnaroo did something like this. I could see them getting like 3 big djs together to go back and forth and improvise off each other though

As mentioned in previous years of this topic of discussion. There are absolutely ZERO edm producers that are currently capable of "performing" well enough to actually jam on the fly with each other. Nearly all "live" edm performances over the past 15 years are actually just pre-recorded sequences. Plus, many of the typical sounds that define "Edm" are reliant upon complex processing setups that take time to assemble.
Asking for an edm superjam is like asking for multiple conductors with their own orchestras to improv in front of a crowd.
I think Jim James, Les Claypool and ?uestlove (each is surely a "God of Bonnaroo") are all likely candidates but probably won't ALL be there together bcause that would be the most Bonnaroo thing that could ever happen and I wouldn't be impressed by anything again after that.
I think Hall and Oates will be at Bonnaroo (just makes sense to me) and after missing Hall/Chromeo I would support a "Live From Daryl's House" type thing as well.

I have friends that arent professional DJs or at least not performing all over the world but they get together and jam all the time. We use to spend entire Friday and Saturday nights until dawn listening to them on like 6 or 8 turntables with drum machines and other devices creating all kinds of crazy shit. A professional EDM artist could easily jam if they have any kind of musical talent. I have heard it happen many, many times. A friend of mine who use to book EDM shows use to book 2 headliners for every show and would have them perform for an hour each alone and the get together to do a combined set without any type of rehearsal or anything; it is to this day some of the best EDM sets I have heard. To say that their is zero EDM artist that can do that is plain wrong.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

Last years Superjam definitely set the bar high for me. It's actually the first I've seen. 2009 and 2010 they didn't have one, 2011 I had to leave sunday morning so I missed it... and this years? damn. They're gonna have to go alllllll out to top that one.
