How do I post images?
In order to include images in your post you will need to find the URL of the image you want to use. There are two types of images to post on this message board: 1.) Images that are found on the internet and 2.) Images that you have saved on your computer
To post an image from the internet:
Step 1: Find the URL (typically ending in .jpg, .gif, or .png) - Most browsers now have the ability to "Copy Image Location" or "Copy Image URL" when you click on an image with the right mouse button.
Step 2: Paste the URL in Image Tags - After copying the URL of the image you want to use all you need to do is paste it into Image tags like seen in the examples below. You can simply click on the "Add Image" icon () or you can type out the image tags:
[img]http://i.imgur.com/KA42rYZ.jpg[/img]
or
[img src="http://i.imgur.com/KA42rYZ.jpg"]
[/u]
If you would like to post a photo that you have saved on your computer the first thing you have to do is upload the image to an image hosting site. Below will be 3 basic tutorials for decent image hosts. Basically what you need to do is find the image on your computer and select it to be uploaded on the image host of your choice. After it is uploaded you want to copy and paste the "Direct link" which usually ends in a ".jpg", ".gif", ".png" inside of image tags in your post.
Step 1.) Go to imgur.com and click on "Computer" under the upload section (circled in red).
Step 2.) Browse your computer and find the folder that has the image you want to upload. Select it and click "Start Upload". Another option is to simply drag and drop the image on the imgur.com webpage.
Step 3.) When the upload is complete you'll be taken to a screen to see the image you've uploaded with multiple links to choose from. For posting it you'll want the "Direct Link" (circled in red).
Step 4.) Copy and Paste the "Direct Link" URL into the image tags.
Step 1.) Go to tinypic.com and click on the "Browse" button to search your computer for the image file you want to upload.
Step 2.) When the upload is complete you'll be taken to a screen to see the image you've uploaded with multiple links to choose from. For posting it you'll want the "Direct Link" (circled in red).
Step 3.) Copy and Paste the "Direct Link" URL into the image tags.
- Upload with ImageShack.com (note: you may need to register an account for this site)

How do I update my signature and avatar images?
For those that don't know an avatar is the small square image that appears near your username on your posts. A signature is the space the appears underneath all of your posts. You can post text or images in your signature, just keep it to a reasonable length.
Step 1.) Click on the "Profile" link at the top of the forum. While on your profile page click "Edit Profile"
Step 2.) To edit your avatar click on the "Avatar" tab and you can choose to either upload or link to an avatar image. You can also choose to use the Avatar you can make using the Avatar Maker.
Step 3.) To edit your Signature click on the "Personal" tab and you can type out your signature here. Text. formatting, and images work.

How do I make a custom avatar with the Avatar Maker?
If you don't want to use a regular image as an avatar you can now choose to make a custom avatar using the new Proboards "Avatar Maker". It's pretty straightforward when you get into the avatar maker.
Step 1.) Click on the "Profile" link at the top of the forum. While on your profile page click "Edit Profile"
Step 2.) To edit your avatar click on the "Avatar" tab. Click on the "Edit Avatar" link underneath the Proboards Avatar section. This will open up the Avatar Maker and from here it's pretty easy to figure out.

How do I edit my profile settings?
To change your settings click the "Profile" link on the top menu or just click on your user name to take you to your profile page. From there you want to click "Edit Profile" which is located in the top right section of the page. You will now be able to edit a variety of settings which are broken up by tabs. Below is a brief description of each tab and some of the settings you can change there:
Avatar: Change your avatar here. Either use your own image or make one using Avatar Maker.
Personal: Here you can update your display name, location, signature, and other personal settings.
Social: If you want to share any of your social media accounts like facebook, twitter, youtube, and more you can do that here.
Settings: These are your main board preferences. You can hide signatures, change themes, and alter other settings.
Privacy: Here are a variety of different privacy settings you can edit. Since privacy is important to some this will be explained more in depth in another "How Do I?" post which you can read by clicking here or scrolling down.
Notifications: You can select when you want to be given a "notification" on your profile. Pretty self explanatory when you see it.
Badges: This is something new from Proboards and is not part of Inforoo. They cost real money and are purely cosmetic. You can look into them if you'd like but Inforoo does not benefit from these. It's purely a Proboards thing.

How do I edit my privacy settings? How do I "ignore" another poster?
We know that many people value their privacy and may not want people to be able to view their activity on the board. The standard privacy settings remain like if you want to hide your gender or hide your online status and birthday. Now profiles have the "Activity" section which displays when you've posted or liked a link or things like that. If you don't want that visible to certain people you can use the dropdown labeled Activity to select who you'd like to share that info with.
Ignoring/Blocking another Poster
One of the biggest upgrades we have is the new ignore feature. Now you are able to specify how you would like to "Ignore" and "Block" another poster. From the Privacy Settings tab you simply type in the username of the poster you wish to Block/Ignore. When a person is selected it will give you options with check boxes to be filled in however you would like. (Note: The option that says "Do not let this member start new conversations with me" is referring to Private Messages.)
After updating your Privacy settings be sure to click the "Save Settings" button at the bottom.
Alternative way to Block/Ignore another poster:
Click on the poster's name to go to their profile page. From there you just have to click the gear icon in the top right section of the page and go to "Block Member". Click that and the same four options as shown above will pop up for you to fill in however you'd like.

How do I switch the default posting mode from Visual Editor to Bbcode?
This one is pretty simple but we separated it out just in case people were having trouble figuring out how to do it. Now you can select whether you want your post box to open up as the "Visual Editor" or as the typical posting box that you are used to, which is known as "Bbcode". To change the default setting go to your profile page >> Select "Edit Profile" >> Click on settings >> Then you should be able to find it.

How do I "like" a post?
Instead of a link at the bottom of a post there is now a Facebook-like "Thumbs Up" icon at the top of a post, next to the "Quote" button. Click that to "Like" a post.

How do I view the most recent posts and most recent threads?
For those of you who like to view the most recent posts or threads there are now 3 ways to do that.
1.) At the bottom of the home page forum, similar to how it used to be:
2.) On the top menu to the left of the "Help" and "Search" links:
3.) On the top right side of the forum labeled "Participated". This is new and will show you JUST the recent threads that you have participated in. If someone has posted in a thread you were recently in you'll see a "NEW" icon here.

How do I create a photo gallery?
New to Inforoo is the ability to create photo galleries where members can post a bunch of their own photos for other members to view. We created a new sub-board of The Other Tent specifically for the photo galleries. This new section is called The Ferris Wheel and you can go there to create your own gallery. Once there all you have to do is click on the Create Gallery link located in the upper right hand part of the screen, above the Search bar.
From there you will be brought to a screen that asks you for the Gallery title, Image URL, and Comments. Here is where you will name the gallery and post the first image. The way photo galleries will work on here is you post each image individually by copying and pasting the URL of the image. (Note: To see how to host images from your computer Click Here to read that tutorial). The comment section is for any info you would like to include with each image.
After that you can add more images by clicking the Add Image link, which is located where you'd normally see a "Reply" link.
