God I want to go to The Gorge so fucking bad. I'm applying to grad school at the University of Washington which would start in September. If I get in and decide to go there, I would honestly consider moving to Seattle in July to make that happen.
one of my oldest and best friends has lived in seattle for several years now. he works for the city, something with maps. if you end up out there let me know and i'll set you guys up on a friend date. him and his wife are the best, y'all would get along splendidly. he's a big auburn fan, phish head, general live music nut. and he'll definitely be at the gorge this summer.
Sounds like a good dude to me!
Does he, by chance, work with the city on public transportation and bicycle infrastructure? I downloaded a ton of their GIS data when I was learning data analytics. That would be a crazy small world.

just checked, he said he "worked on the project that made the data available via open data", whatever that means. small world indeed!

Got a msg from a bud who said “ “friends dad’s law partner just got out of a piedmont park conservancy meeting. Phish, Piedmont Park, Atlanta, August 1, 2. 35,000 people. Just got the thumbs up from the actual committee. Tickets on sale next week.”
You heard it here first

Fond memories of Atlantic City beach from when I was a kid. Heard it has kinda went downhill? Anyone been recently? Also anyone seen a show on the beach there? Between that and Piedmont which seems like a blast

It's definitely not anywhere near the top of anyone's "nicest jersey shore point" but it's going to be super fun going to these shows. Never seen a show on the beach, but it was in fine condition when I was there last April.
PIEDMONT PARK IS HAPPENING PARTY AT MY PLACE HOLY SHIT
i already have a hotel booked walking distance from piedmont, but would definitely love to hang at your place preshow.
I'd love to have you. I'm literally a block from the Charles Allen Drive entrance (where the stage will be). We'll for sure have a meetup at my place before the show so I'll let you and everyone else know what's up as we get closer to the day.
Alright the question is how many nights of Indy should I do?
I'm probably in for one, but I could be talked into two...
I'm probably going to wait until public sales go up, I don't wanna commit to getting expensive tickets lol I'm cool just getting a lawn ticket and getting there early and chilling. Will decide how many nights/which night(s) before then!

The aerial photos from the Pink show on the beach and the complaints make it seem like it'll be terrible
i'm kidding around about the all three shows thing, i know that's a lot to ask for non-hardcore fans like yourselves, especially given how expensive tickets are these days.
but if you can swing at least two, i recommend it. a little corny but phish does a great job of making you feel a "part of" across a multiple nights at the same venue. a good show tends to have some kind of consistent attitude throughout, typically reflective of whatever Trey is feeling that night, so across multiple shows you often get to experience a variety of moods or general tonalities. As an example alpharetta in 2018:
Night one was "rock show" summer shed Phish, with a First Tube opener, Tweezer and Carini and Simple in the second set, More encore.
Night two was a touch darker and weirder and slower, with Fuck Your Face, Maze, Waiting All Night in set one, Crosseyed and Painless, ASIHTOS, Piper, and Slave in the second set, Squirming Coil encore.
Night three. I was guessing before the show this night would be emotional Phish. I've been at shows where it feels like the four people on stage are the only ones in the venue and you kind of feel the depth of the connection and friendship they have with each other, and for some reason I was expecting this. And that is a really cool thing to see, but I was delighted when they opened with Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing" because I knew instead of emotional Phish we were getting absurd silly Phish, with Tweezer Reprise as the second song and Reba in set one, Mango Song and You Sexy Thing Reprise in set 2, and an encore of Fee > 2001. It was an exuberant and easy-going night, just all smiles and good times. I love heavy and dark Phish but it can take it's toll physically. I left that night and that run feeling strangely refreshed and light on my feet.
The plan is for the Alabama show and both Atlanta shows. As long as we get tixz. Hoping summer tour is hella easier than fall
this looks like my run as well.
we don't know the official capacity for the piedmont shows, but the rumor was 35,000. shows there in the past have been capped at 50-60,000 i think. but even if they cap at the rumored 35,000 tickets should be super easy to acquire.
it's been a while since they played oak mountain, 2012 i think. i don't remember what demand was like for those, which probably means it wasn't that high since i don't have any memories about stressing over getting a ticket.
but personally if i know i am going to a show i take every opportunity to get a ticket. as an example for years Dicks was a pretty easy ticket, until one year it wasn't. was sold out by August and all the people waiting to get good deals were scrambling for tickets. i don't think that will be the case for oak mountain or piedmont, but i'll still be putting in a lotto request for all those shows, and if i miss that i'll be at my computer for public on sale. i'd rather have my ticket in hand and go about my life than try and time the market.
since the only drivable option for me is a single Friday show in Inglewood, looking at other options. flights to ATL are always cheap and tix shouldn't be too hard to get. that's probably the most realistic unless I do a dick's run. But crashing a party at 10goldbees sounds like fun. and since I'm not doing bonnaroo this year, I think flying for phish will be an easier sell to the missus.
Totally going to put in my requests for the Phish Tix Lotto for these shows. Wish I could pull off another little run of shows but already doing too much this summer. 3 will just have to do. We have our whole Roo crew (5 including myself) down for the Phish fun!

for Piedmont it sounds like we got ourselves a pretty darn good inforoo meetup brewing!
