Without going into too many boring details, I'd summarize this NYE run as "better than expected". I didn't find much from the fall tour that left me thinking "wow, I can't wait to revisit this". This run, there was something every night that I'm going to listen to over and over again.
N1 DWD, Piper, Drowned N2 While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Carini, Gin, Hood N3 46 Days (multiple peaks), About to Run (shred fest), Tweezer and Ruby Waves (just phenomenal) N4 Halley's Comet, Twist, Sand all were outstanding

Those maybe midweeks seem to be what’s most up in the air. Assuming they don’t take a weekend date or three off (which I don’t rule out on the third and fourth weekends especially), it’s likely that just one or two of the five maybes actually happens, i.e. good chance they’ll take most of a week (the 3rd-6th?) off. I’m not sure what if anything’s up with SoCal at this point - SF is going to take at least two of the weekend holds, so unless they add a weeknight (the 28th is the night before the All-Star game at Banc, which seems unlikely, and the Bowl’s open only on the 22nd, which would require some NW adjustment), it seems like LA might be off the map. More speculatively, I don’t rule out a TX date or two (Grand Prairie?) sneaking in there around the 28th-29th or something like Starlight KC circa the 5th. Nor do I rule out a wild card or two somewhere between MI and NH circa the 9th/11th

I'm sure everyone know this but if Phish plays Atlanta it's at Lakewood Amphitheater or Ameris Bank Amphitheater (which used to be Verizon Wireless). Piedmont Park doesn't have any infrastructure and it takes like two weeks to setup and tear down an event space big enough to hold Phish.
THAT BEING SAID ... I strongly encourage them to play Piedmont Park because I live across the street. If that actually happens all of y'all are welcome to come hang before the show.

yeah i thought the rumor change to piedmont was weird.
here's hoping it is piedmont though! all of inforoo can just crash with you and you'll buy us pizza and ice cream after the shows.

Absolutely. Y'all carpool because parking is limited on my street.

the piedmont park rumor is so weird. i'm realizing now that's where music midtown is, so it'd just be a big field which is cool. and a crazy pain in the ass for the city for some band to setup a stage for two days of shows, as you noted. are you aware of any other one-band kind of show that has gone on at piedmont park?
Music Midtown is the only ticketed event I can think of that takes place outdoors in the park. They do have art festivals and concerts there basically every couple weeks during the summer. Those are usually free and involve smaller set ups. Overuse of the park is a big concern for the conservancy and the city as a whole. I'd be surprised if they let a bunch of hippies come trample the field in between all the other regular events and only two months before Music Midtown.
Paul McCartney, Dave Matthews, and The Eagles have played one-off shows in the park but those were all like 10 years ago.

Unfortunately I didn't get to check out Prydz my buddy who I was planning to go with couldn't make it, and it became infinitely easier to sell the tix and stay in Philly for the night before heading up Saturday. I wouldn't necessarily call myself much of a Prydz fan, but that visual production looked simply astounding.
Onto the P fish. I thought 12/28 was a pretty run of the mill show, nothing too crazy. The aftershow with Medeski, Martin, Metzger, and Cline was rad though.
12/31 on the other hand was a total blast - cant believe it took me this long to finally see a NYE gig! First set was really solid. Anytime I'm hearing Fluffhead is a a good time. The second-set was an absolute heater; just a relentless audio onslaught. I thought pretty much everything ripped, but the Twist went to another level.
Third set was so so much fun. We were posted up pretty much 4th row side stage which was an unbelievable vantage point. I was in awe pretty much the entire set watching the choreographed performance right in-front of me while (especially) Trey and the gang played from above.
Can't wait for the official summer dates, but thinking I'll prob try and book an Airbnb in AC now.

not a whole lot of change in the rumored tour dates. purely guessing i'd say the gorge, something in California the weekend after, something in atlanta, something at deer creek, and AC are all happening. and dicks obviously. a few random dates to fill in the gaps but obviously not all the dates listed above.

God I want to go to The Gorge so fucking bad. I'm applying to grad school at the University of Washington which would start in September. If I get in and decide to go there, I would honestly consider moving to Seattle in July to make that happen.

After finally getting to my first NYE show I'd really love to do a Halloween run this year. Since 2013 they haven't taken more than one year off, so fingers crossed that pattern holds
Do these guys ever come to Florida? First time seeing them was Roo last year and I loved it.
Very rarely unfortunately. They played in Jacksonville in 2016, and did the new years run in Miami earlier that year. They've done Miami NYE a few times but it looks like they are locked into MSG NYE for the foreseeable future.

I'm about the same distance to Atlanta as Miami so maybe I'll make it up there! Tampa, Orlando, or Jacksonville would all be much better though. Thanks for the info

one of my oldest and best friends has lived in seattle for several years now. he works for the city, something with maps. if you end up out there let me know and i'll set you guys up on a friend date. him and his wife are the best, y'all would get along splendidly. he's a big auburn fan, phish head, general live music nut. and he'll definitely be at the gorge this summer.
