In a different world where Corona virus weren't a pandemic, I'd be on SE Asia right now. But in this world, my wife feels bad I had to cancel my trip and have me the tentative ok for ATL. Gotta figure out some work stuff before I can commit fully, but I'd say I'm ~85%!!
Front of 301 Friday at Oak Mt. Had fifth row 101 platinum but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. GA ATL Saturday. Foundation tickets Sunday, which is why I couldn't drop the platinum money for Friday. This is gonna be a blast. Hope we luck out with no venue-clearing thunderstorms on this run.
no holds, no emails for me. per reddit "we regret to inform you" emails are going out. damn.
i'm not stressing because birmingham and ATL tickets shouldn't be that tough but i haven't been totally shut out of PTBM in a long time.
Weird, only me out of 6 people in our crew got Oak Mountain PTBMs (204 Row G ). Surprised so many were shut out, but everybody ended up getting in 204 at public onsale. One guy pulled Row A.

the southern phish fan base is strong, especially relative to how few shows we get. i got tickets easily through TM, but after i got tickets i kept checking back and they were going fast.

Watching the Livestream tonight from Mexico. Second song Shafty, LTP 6/10/12 Bonnaroo.
I remember that day at roo I was in the soberoo meeting talking to a Phan, asked him what he wanted to hear and he said "Shafty". Outside I was smiling but inside I was like "not happening bud." But you never really know!

this video is making the rounds. watched it yesterday, if you have a half hour it's a lot of fun. i guess the gist of this guy's channel is he listens to songs for the first time and tries to figure out what the guitarist is doing. somebody recommended he try the MSG NYE 1995 PYITE and the above video is the result. his reactions are pretty funny, especially in The Landlady segment.

Oh wow that's super cool. I clicked through and two other videos are the Midnight in Harlem from Everybody's Talking and Morning Dew from Winterland 74. Definitely going to waste a lot of time on that channel.
The YouTube algorithm had been suggesting that morning dew video for ame for a bit now. I'm not really a big fan of the "reaction video" genre but that guy is pretty entertaining.

How do you even get a beer or go to the bathroom when these guys are playing? I mean literally anything could happen.

11 years ago today on March 6, 2009, Phish reunited at Hampton Coliseum after breaking up in 2004. During the breakup Trey Anastasio went into the depths of his opiate addiction, and played a bunch of shitty music before getting arrested for possession and DUI. He was put through drug court, got clean, made amends with his former bandmates, and changed his whole perspective on shit. For the first song of their comeback show, they opened with "Fluffhead", and myself and the Phish community as a whole was irrevocably changed.
I've seen a great deal of amazing live music since then, but this performance will always stand out as a peak live music moment.
Happy Friday everyone! Here's to live music, and it's ability to make us kinder, more generous, and more open minded people.

this person is posting camcorder footage of big cypress 1999. the above video at around 8:30 minutes shows the 2001 at sunrise. wow! really incredible to see.
I'm assuming this is some sort of April fool's joke. But if not I'll be pleasantly surprised.
exciting. unfortunately this is prime Ozark S3E4 time so i likely won't listen live. i imagine somebody will rip it or it will be released soon enough.
It's weird to see Adam Levine be normal at something. He's such an excellent performer that this really humanizes him. Rad that he's a Phish fan!
Adam Levine being a Phish fan is an old bit. They used to roll up to the lot in their tour bus during the the 2.0 summer so they could signal that they’re “cool” mom rockers. Or “cool mom” rockers. I dunno. One of those.

When the Soundgarden reunion was happening, people thought Pearl Jam would need a drummer to replace Matt Cameron. I think I remember Levine putting out a video or posts or something about him wanting to be the new Pearl Jam drummer. Levine seems really desperate to prove to people (himself) that he's better than the garbage he puts out.

Oh well then you'd think he could play Divided Sky a little better if he's been listening for 20 years haha.
Guys the new album is really good. I'm genuinely enjoying this stream. I'm very glad they didn't try to fit any of these songs into radio friendly tunes.

Available on all streaming services now. And worth the listen.
the new album is very good. i actually love the string arrangements. the performances feel loose but not sloppy, striking that ever difficult balance for jambands between a proper clean studio sound and a live performance. adult contemporary/dad rock vibes but also a darkness throughout. not a hopeless darkness but kind of like a cloudy day that feels cool and nice outside. this album is just what i needed right now.
i also love the album cover. credit to Rene Huemer for getting the band outside the barn to take a pic:

The album really surpassed my expectations. In fact I was pretty blown away by the production / mastering / mixing, I thought it was a cut above pretty much all of their other studio output. Everyone comes through really cleanly in the mix, Mike's low end is great, and Page's textures are all over the album. Fishman is solid as ever, and Trey's vocals sounded really raw and natural.
Everything's Right is just a sublime studio cut, I don't think they could've done it any better. They really encapsulated the 'live' sound, which is so tough to do. Really loved the proggy moments in Thread. Honestly, there aren't many low points. It also helped being familiar with the majority of songs from live shows, which definitely made it easier to digest.
Some of the arrangements were awesome, and I really hope I still get to see Trey perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
