Why does this board love Daft Punk so much? I've hear a few of there songs, so I'm obviously not qualified to form an opinion, but what am I not listening to that makes everyone all weak in the knees?

Go listen to Alive 2007.
The rest of you can it with the Daft Punk talk. They're never touring again because Dave Maynar touches himself.

I have friends that ask the same question. I'll try to explain it as best as I can:
They're pioneers. They were the first big-production EDM act and their music was fresh and unlike anything else at the time they were hitting full stride. Most DJ's today drew inspiration from Daft Punk. Discovery was and is one of the best EDM albums ever. However...now that technology has expanded so much and it's so easy to make electronic songs, the potential for EDM burst wide open into what it is today. Dubstep took over with the catchy hooks and drops and makes Daft Punk's music seem a little blander in comparison. I think the perfect comparison is with The Beatles to modern rock and roll. Sure going back and listening to The Beatles now, most people would say its a bit blander than more modern rock...but they were the pioneers that made modern rock happen.
But also, a lot of us grew up with Homework and Discovery. They were an intro to electronic music and a damn good intro at that. I hold a special place in my heart for the helmeted duo as do, I think a lot of people in my age range (25-35ish).

Would love to see your history of dance music.
If we're throwing out requests, I would also like a history of modern rock music.

Don't read into it too much, I was just trying to give a pitch for Daft Punk. Yes I realize that there was dance music before DP, just as there was rock music before The Beatles; but DP revolutionized the genre and paved the way for the current EDM scene.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
One mid/upper EDM act Two mid-range indie/rock acts One mid-range jam act Three to Five lower-tier indie rock acts Five lower-tier EDM acts
All anchored by some-form of announcement involving the "electronic" stage.
Think your pretty right on with your prediction. For sure gonna be a jam act or two added due to the lack there of.
Then could definitely see another bigger name EDM act nothing huge but below PLights and above most of our other EDM thus far. Would love it to be Thievery Corporation or Empire of The Sun both are close enough. Or maybe the Yeah Yeah Yeahs could fill that void if there's nobody else(Completely wishful thinking)
Could potentially some of or similar size acts as: Deerhunter/Mac DeMarco/Foxygen/The Shouting Matches fulfilling the mid/low indie range adds.
Hoping for a completely random act that will take everyone by surprise but we shall see. *crosses fingers*

In my opinion.
I was talking more about the Dubstep thing. American Dubstep and its popularity is very different than the UK's definition/scene.
Definitely not kidding. Third Eye Blind is in a different realm than the 90s pop stuff and holds their own with the good shiz that came out of the 90s. If you only know Third Eye Blind for their catchy pop hits you're doing it wrong. Hands down still my favorite band of all time.
To each their own my friend, but I wouldnt get my hopes up. Although, they might have a chance of being added if every other band in the world is busy during the weekend of Roo.
Oh I'm definitely not expecting an add, I'm just saying they would be a great fit for Bonnaroo.
