And I'd still take Coachella. It's deeper, with a better undercard. And while McCartney is the #1 overall, I'd take all of Coachella's headliners except RHCP over Mumford and Petty.
I think both lineups are stellar this year, some for similar reasons, some for different ones. But Juggs - don't you think you'd be able to convince yourself that you'd take the Bonnaroo lineup over Coachella's if you had already bought a ticket to Bonnaroo and not to Coachella?

As Juggs said, Coachella's lineup is deeper and has more acts I'd like to see. For me, Roo's top couple lines beat Coachella's by a very narrow margin. If they were both the same amount of money and effort for me, I'd choose Coachella. Roo, however is far easier and cheaper for me and Coach is not worth the hassle, even the lineup, I think, is slightly better
Roo goes all night, crazy party scene, bands that I'm dying to see. Macca and Bjork at Roo will be epic. I won't be able to see them again anywhere else and have as good of a time!
Reallllly good stuff in the Coachella undercard though. Wish Roo had Dead Can Dance and Nick Cave.

Already having tickets to both fests, I'm also on the Coachella train. RHCP is a huge turd in the Coachella punch-bowl, which is the only reason it's even close. How to Destroy Angels, Nick Cave, Prydz, YYYs, and one of Phoenix first shows back are all big pulls for me. Bjork, Macca, and R Kelly are all strong for Bonnaroo, but it doesn't seem like any of them are going to be particularly buzzworthy this year as far as new albums and such.

I don't know. I've grown really tired of Bonnaroo's setting, actually. I definitely needed a change for my big festival of choice this year.
But, as I said. I'm more excited about Blur than an I am about anything on Bonnaroo's lineup, though Baroness is pretty awesome, and if this is their first show back I'd be stoked to be there. I like Coachella's EDM better (Disclosure, Simian Mobile Disco, Roni Size, James Blake, Booka Shade, OMD, TNGHT, Bauuer, Jamie xx), and I think the hip-hop is about a wash, though I think a reunited J5 wins out for me. The top of the undercard is really similar for both, and while I wish Coachella had Wilco, the National and Bjork, I'm beyond excited for Sigur Ros, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Postal Service, Hot Chip. There's a lot of overlap - Grizzly Bear, The xx, OM&M, Lumineers...but Coachella also snagged a few that I consider "can't miss" acts like Yeasayer, Spiritualized, Shouting Matches.
I think Bonnaroo's lineup is great, easily the best they've had since 2008 or 2009. But if I were to compare the two objectively, I don't think it would win out. If we're taking venue into consideration, I think it would skew towards Coachella even more.
I may wind up doing both, who knows.
Makes sense.
I am anxious to get Coachella one of these years. Reason I asked is that I bought ACL tix before the lineup last year and for a while convinced myself it had the best lineup of the big four last year - which just wasn't true.
There are overlaps, but I see this as a draw if you are just comparing lineups. Bonnaroo has bigger name headliners, but Coachella wins as far grabs go (Blur, Stone Roses, Lou Reed, J-5, Nick Cave, New Order, ect...)that you won't see at every festival. I say depth wise it is about even. Bonnaroo will fill out even more as the months go by.
For my personal tastes, I find Coachella to have the overall more interesting and personally appealing line up just about every year. This year is not any different, even if Coachella is hitting less of my personal "wow" gets year after year, they still get more than Roo regularly.

Here are the overlapping acts, for anyone who is curious. There are more than I realized, 25 28 (thanks tom!)!
Action Bronson Allen Stone Alt-J Beach House Deap Vally Divine Fits DIIV Earl Sweatshirt Father John Misty FOALS Four Tet Grizzly Bear Japandroids Jeff the Brotherhood Local Natives Lord Huron Of Monsters and Men Passion Pit Portugal. The Man Pretty Lights Purity Ring Tame Impala The Gaslight Anthem The Lumineers The xx Wild Nothing Wolfgang Gartner Wu-Tang Clan
I prefer Bonnaroo's way of doing things (full sets, can drink at shows) but generally feel Coachella gets the better line up though it leads to more conflicts which are harder to resolve due to the shorter performances.
If the lineups were switched, people would still be saying Coach.
Not I... if Roo had Coachella's lineup for the last two years, I wouldn't have stayed home instead of going to Manchester. I know what I like, and for a lineup (since I've never been there, I can only go off of what the lineup looks like on paper), almost every year, Coachella has more bands (that don't end up crossing over with Roo) that I would be inclined to travel to see. The electronic is the main factor, and Coachella pays (or at least used to) more attention to more obscure classic acts than Roo ever would.
I'm not trying to shit on anything, here, and Bonnaroo does have a good lineup... and I know tons and tons of people that are just gaga over this, and it's understandable for certain... it's just not for me, and it doesn't make me want to travel the 7 hours or whatever it is, plus pay the expenses of ticket, travel, and whatever else. My personal tastes are just more and more, year by year slipping further away from what AC is doing with Bonnaroo. I'm sure it's still a great festival, but as far as what will be most likely taking my money as an attendee, I think Hopscotch, new-Moog, and Mountain Oasis (still haven't memorized the name) will have me covered. And, one of these years I would love to go to Coachella, always have wanted to... just the travel and expenses are more than I can comfortably handle at any given time.

From someone unable to attend either fest, just from observation, I would *slightly* give the nod to Roo. The headliners are better, and it's not so clustered up at the top like it is for Coachella, where I'd have to literally go both weekends to see everyone I wanted to see. At Roo, I could plan much more carefully and not have to worry about missing too many acts I want to see.

I couldn't agree more about the setting. After having been to Coachella for the last couple of years, as well as Roo, the setting and weather at Coachella give it a huge head start. In my mind for Bonnaroo to be "better" they need a stronger lineup and other unique things to push them over the top. I think they do it most years musically, this is a matter of taste but Roo generally has more music I end up appreciating years down the road. I've never been a Stone Roses fan, I have plenty of Brit friends that don't get it either; it's pretty damn poppy. Blur on the other hand would be a lot of fun although it's not a "wow" get for me. As for the remainder of the lineups they are about what I would expect, they are both deep and cover many diverse genres. These two festivals separate themselves every year in my opinion and if you are lucky enough to do both you should. I've actually gained more appreciation for both festivals after having attended the other. I'm really disappointed I can't do Coach this year, it's the first festival in years that I've wanted to go to and couldn't make it happen. Every once in a while life gets in the way for all of us. I was really hoping for Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Hot Chip at Roo.

This is the first year I've preferred Bonnaroo's lineup to Coachella's. It comes down to the big names. The Stone Roses might be my favorite headliner at either festival, but I can't really call myself a fan of Blur or Phoenix. Both are fine, and I'm sure I would enjoy their sets, but I'd probably end up seeing a conflicting act anyway. Same goes for YYYS, Postal Service, Vampire Weekend, and the current version of New Order. Those are all near misses for me - perfectly fine acts that just don't excite me. I do wish Roo had snagged Hot Chip, OMD, and Grinderman. I'm seeing Nick Cave play a full set next month, so that one doesn't hurt so much.
Bonnaroo's big names are more enticing to me. I'm genuinely excited for Bjork, Wilco, The National, R. Kelly, and Byrne/Vincent. And while I'm one of those "Beatles aren't THAT great" guys, I wouldn't pass up a chance to see McCartney. I've never seen Petty, either, and I've always had an interest. Coach might have a slightly better undercard, but Roo has enough acts like Swans, Billy Idol, and Baroness to maintain the overall edge.
