With all the people who have died at Bonnaroo, that's probably not a bad idea.
It averages less than one a year, that's not really all that bad considering how many people are there, the relative harshness of the conditions, and the nonsense that everyone gets up to.

I just don't see how you can't find another artist other than Mumford & Sons from that lineup that you enjoy, unless you've just honestly never heard of the other artists. Bonnaroo is amazing because you'll leave the farm having fallen in love with bands that you had never listened to or even heard of before. But you may want to "pre-game" before going so you at least know which shows you might want to check out.
I decided to go to Firefly this year. I'm a big fan of the Chili Peppers, though I haven't heard them live since they replaced Frusciante (again).
Not really anything against the type of music in general at this year's Bonnaroo; just not a particular fan of any of the headliners.
And that's not necessarily a bad thing, I was just curious if you were a big EDM person who might not know some of the lesser-known EDM acts (my friend is like this, but she's been listening to Four Tet for the past 24 hours).
If the lineup isn't for you, go to a fest whose lineup is. Roo will eventually hit a home run for you personally (unless you don't like any good music, which isn't Roo's fault) and you'll get your chance for the 4-day party. You seem to have the right attitude about it, instead of flipping out about how Bonnaroo screwed you over with their lineup you just shrug and find something more up your alley. Kudos for that, most noobs aren't that level-headed.
I second this. No use in spending the money and time to go to a festival if you arent really into it. However, if you really want to hit up Roo sometime, I wouldnt let the initial line-up turn you off. Like mentioned before, it is helpful to go from the top the of the line-up to the bottom and listen to whatever amount of music usually allows you to form an opinion of a band. If you like a band, listen to more. If you think you might like a band, listen to some more. If you know you just arent going to like it, scratch it off the list and move one. The chances are, you will find enough artist each day at Roo to fill your plate and even if you only find 4 or 5 for each day, there is plenty of other stuff to keep you busy. I could go to a music festival and just stay in the campground and have a better time than I do most other places. My ex-wife dragged me to some festivals where I didnt know a single artist on the line-up and I still had an excellent time.

He said that M&S was the only one of the headliners that he kinda of liked, not the entire line-up. He did say that the line-up overall wasnt his cup of tea but he never said Mumford was the only band on the entire line-up that he enjoyed.
