Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
List the bands you have seen before. It would also be helpful if you wrote a very brief review of the act's live show. You could even assign that act's live show a completely arbitrary grade.
Conspirator last year LN Wanee. Fantastic. I was completely drunk, like out of my mind wasted, but id give it a 3.5 Boners from what I can remember Mumford & Sons Roo 11. Obv a great show Tom Petty 1995 Awesome show, for a while was in my top 5 shows of all time
Wilco twice last summer. Absolutely mind blowing. Nels is amazing, they rock the stage SO HARD and are SO TIGHT and SO CLEAR that it is easy to lose yourself in the music. Truly remarkable show both times. Both shows were VERY different, one was more smooth and chill, with moments of rocking face. 2 days later at Hangout, it was mostly ROCKING MY BALLS OFF with moments of smooth and chill. DO NOT MISS.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - this was a couple years ago and I was pretty drunk. From what I remember, it was a solid show. Nothing spectacular, but I'm a a Petty fan so I enjoyed it.
Big KRIT - saw him last spring opening up for J. Cole. Didn't know any of his material going into the show, but I enjoyed myself. He was pretty high energy, even more energy than Cole had.
Mumford 2x, Wilco, Pretty Lights 2x, The National, David Byrne, Passion Pit 3x, The xx, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Cat Power, Edward Sharpe 2x, Gov't Mule 4x, Portugal. The Man 2x, Local Natives, Matt and Kim 3x, Trombone Shorty 3x, Preservation Hall Jazz Band 3x, Earl Sweatshirt
I'll go back and give a brief review when I have more free time

A- Trak - He DJs live and really works the table so worth being close to him to watch him work. He adjusts what he plays show to so, so when I've seen him he's ranged anywhere from 2-5 firm boners, depending on what mood each of us are in.
Divine Fits - Band has Britt Daniel from Spoon and Dan Boeckner from Wolf Parade/Handsome Furs, so excellent musicians and experienced performers. Their album sounds fuller performed live and they fill out their set with covers of stuff like Tom Petty and Frank Ocean. When I saw them at Schubas it was easily one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Sir Paul - 2009, Piedmont Park, Atlanta. Incredible show. It poured rain at one point, no one cared. It was open seating, so my friends and I made a run for it as soon as we got in the park and ended up about 5 rows back, stage middle left. Ticket only cost me about $100. A++
Wilco - 2006, Knoxville; 2009, Bonnaroo; 2011, The Ryman. Great show every time. One of my top 5 favorite bands. A
The National - 2008, Atlanta; 2010, Bonnaroo. I discussed this earlier today, but I didn't care for Matt's voice the first time I saw them live (although they were still awesome musically), but I got into his voice by listening to the albums. They put on a great show at Bonnaroo 2010. B+
David Byrne & St. Vincent - 2012, The Ryman. They were great, although Annie was kind of the star, IMO. It felt like David was her MC. A
Kendrick Lamar - 2012, Bonnaroo. I saw this entire show with a couple of my friends, and we were all hammered. I don't remember much except the rap horn going off often, but I remember that it was a blast. One of my friends was so drunk that he thought it was White Denim after we left. I guess their sign was up? B?
Animal Collective - 2009, Bonnaroo. I caught some of their show, was not really into it. I'm giving them another chance in Nashville in March. C- (subject to change)
Cat Power - 2008, Bonnaroo. Wasn't blown away, but I didn't know her music well at the time. C+
Jim James - I've seen MMJ 7 times, I think? My favorite band. I'll see Jim solo in Nashville prior to Bonnaroo. Anticipatory A+
Portugal. The Man - 2009, Bonnaroo; 2010, The Orange Peel in Asheville; 2011, Bonnaroo. They blew me away at Bonnaroo, '09. I also loved them in the small setting in Asheville. I was way far back for their Bonnaroo '11 show, and it was super dusty. I gave up. B+
Local Natives - 2010, Bonnaroo. They put on my favorite Thursday show that year. It started a little slow, but ended up rocking. B-
Preservation Hall Jazz Band - 2009 (or 2010?), Atlanta; 2012, Forecastle. I saw them open for MMJ in Atlanta, and saw them at Forecastle last year. I was hammered both times (subsequently sobered up-ish for MMJ both times), so I don't remember much. Incomplete.
EDIT: Forgot Japandroids at Bonnaroo, 2010. Hot-ass Sunday early afternoon tent show. They looked miserable in the heat, but they still rocked their tails off. B+
Yeah, Matt's voice really comes and goes. I've seen him be great and I've seen him really struggle.
Maybe I need to revist them or maybe they came into my life at the wrong time. The year they played in the tent (07 or 08 - too lazy to look) before rod y gab. I sat on the ground and they literally put me to sleep. I woke up being stepped on as people were rushing into the tent to see rod y gab.

Mumford - Bonnaroo 2011; Not a huge fan of their studio work but I admit they put on a pretty good show; A-
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes - Bonnaroo 2010; Didn't really know them too well and wasn't too thrilled with the show, but I'd probably give them another chance; C+
Matt and Kim - Bonnaroo 2011; Again, not a big fan and was way in the back for the show. Sounded pretty good though, I'd catch them again if I could actually see the stage; B
Tame Impala - Webster Hall, NY (2012) - What can I say? They're fantastic all around. Only minor problem was that the singer was very audible but maybe that was a venue issue? A
Portugal. The Man - Starland Ballroom, NJ (2012) - They were great. Pretty much flawless; A+

Macca A+ Petty A (best sing-along of all time) Jim James A+ (never seen him solo, basing this on numerous MMJ shows) Preservation Hall (no grade cause I'm missing something with them, everyone loves them, I don't, I'm wrong) ZZ Top B Beach House *yawn* Gov't Mule *eh* Allen Stone *amazeballs* he opened up his mouth and you don't think it's him singing, you'll see Portugal.the Man B The Lumineers B

Wilco - The only time I have seen them is Roo '09. I very much enjoyed their set but they were a bucket list artist for me so I was biased. If you like their music you will definitely enjoy them live.
Pretty Lights - Loved it. It's a huge dance party. I won't miss this one.
The Lumineers - Took my little sister to see them and was surprised that I enjoyed it (I am indifferent to their album). They get the audience involved a lot and look like they are having a lot of fun on stage. They also covered Subterranean Homesick Blues and This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) which was a nice surprise. If you like their album you will definitely enjoy the show.
Passion Pit - First band I ever saw at Bonnaroo. Lots of energy, lots of dancing, lots of happy. I loved every second of it but I've heard they can be inconsistent.
Kendrick Lamar - Saw him at last year's Roo. He's crazy talented but I was annoyed with the excessive use of air horn.
Gov't Mule - They were fun. Everyone on stage can jam. I'm not a huge fan of their music so I got a little bored but go see them if you like their sound.
Local Natives - Saw them twice when they toured to support Gorilla Manor and I loved it both times. They have such all have such impressive voices that it's really, really powerful when they start to harmonize. This is a set I seriously encourage people not to miss.
Matt & Kim - Very fun. They pack a lot of exuberance into their music and they really want you moving the whole time. It was also a lot of fun when they busted out some fun rap covers (Ludacris, Biz Markie, etc). I'm sure not everyone is crazy for their music but I enjoy it.
Trombone Shorty - Holy freaking lord this guy is talented. You should go even if you are a fan of jazz/funk/whatever. It's rare you get to see a master at work.
Cults - I've seen them twice and I had fun both times. They make really fun beach pop (for lack of a better description). If you are a fan of Tennis, Best Coast, Summer Camp, et al, you will enjoy it. I have a hard time describing them further. Check them out on YouTube, Spotify, whatever and if you like it you will like the live show.
Japandroids - FANTASTIC live show. They pack a lot of punch into their show. You will be exhausted afterwards. I cannot recommend them enough.
Reptar - Eh. Not my favorite. They are, in my mind, a decent bar band but I would suggest you see someone else instead.
Futurebirds - Good stuff. I'm not crazy about them but they do a good job of translating the sound/feeling live. Go see them if there are no conflicts.
Great thread. I have listened to a ton of the bands on the lineup but I didn't realize how few I had seen live. Now I'm even more excited!
Gov't Mule - They were fun. Everyone on stage can jam. I'm not a huge fan of their music so I got a little bored but go see them if you like their sound.
the band fun. really ruined things for me, whenever I read fun. I automatically think of it now, so when I first read this I thought that Mule played with them and was royally confused for about 5 seconds
I saw Futurebirds last night open up for Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. They were awesome. They said they have a new album coming out in April & played a few of the new songs. I enjoyed both the new & old tunes they performed, including playing Chris Issak's Wicked Game. I have a soft spot for them because they were the first set I saw at my first Bonnaroo back in 2011. I will definitely try my hardest to see them again on the farm come June.

A$AP Rocky - Saw him in Orlando, Florida with Danny Brown, Schoolboy Q, and A$AP Mob. I was very drunk but I know that the entire show everyone was jumping and going wild to every song, and this was before Long.Live.A$AP. But he kind of split his part of the show with A$AP Mob. He would do a couple songs, then the Mob would do a couple songs. I'll most likely see him again if he's playing at night. Overall I give him a B+
Matt & Kim - Always impressed by Matt & Kim but it's basically the same show over and over again, IMO. The new album doesn't really make their set any better but the show is still fun. B
Beach House - Saw them open for Vampire Weekend in 2010 and I was up front in the pit. The whole show was incredible and I got the setlist after the show. This was before Bloom so this was one of my Top 10 gets this year. A

Sweet, a pissing contest. I'll just got through and put a quick grade next to them, a quick blurb. The ones without anything are bands I don't generally listen to on my own, but are shows I've seen.
Mumford - C, Show was pretty good, crowd sucked. Wilco - B, Not as big of a fan as most, but they undeniably put on a good show. Pretty Lights - C-A, Depending on the state you're in. The National - B+, Same as Wilco David Byrne/St. Vincent - A, Seen them separately, but both are awesome. Passion Pit - C The XX - C, But I like their new stuff much more since I last saw them Kendrick Lamar - A, Best hip hop show I've seen. Grizzly Bear - B+ Nas - B, Solid, hip hop usually doesn't translate that well live for me Edward Sharpe - B-, Still can't get over this is Ima Robot A$AP Rocky - C, Just noisy, no good flow to it. Love the studio stuff Jim James - B+, With MMJ. Gov't Mule - A-, Best cover band around. Portugal. The Man - A, If this is a night set, don't miss it. Sam Bush - B, Enjoyable bluegrass Matt & Kim - B-, Fun poppy show. Amadou & Mariam - B Father John Misty - B-, but it was just opening, so I have high hopes for his set. Baroness - B-, Another genre that doesn't translate as well live for me. Preservation Hall - B+ Araabmuzik - B-, Too much bass. Calexico - B Death Grips - A, Fun stuff. Jason Isbell - B, Formerly of the Drive-By Truckers, puts on a good show.

Wilco - One of the best live bands I've ever seen. A+ The National - Even the quieter songs are engaging live. Matt's voice was great both times I saw them. A Passion Pit - Saw them in '08, dude couldn't control those vocals yet. B- Grizzly Bear - They do the arrangements justice, which is plenty. A- Animal Collective - I love noise, I love live improv, I hate AnCo. P4K headlining set was a wet fart. D Nas - Live band set at Moog was a lot of fun. Played the hits. B+ Beach House - Seen them a bunch, never a bad set, but they do better with an enthusiastic crowd. B+ Portugal. The Man - Basically a jam band live, a really good one. B+ Local Natives - Big moments like Sun Hands are even bigger. B Matt and Kim - They have so much fun. Melted my cold, cynical heart. But it's a little sloppy. B- Tallest Man on Earth - Exactly what you'd expect given the records. B Divine Fits - Total pros. Great performances, great banter. B+ Swans - Incredibly heavy, perfectly paced, and intense as f*ck. A+ Big K.R.I.T. - Great flow, energetic set. B+ Two Gallants - Drummer is a beast. Interested to hear the new grungey stuff. B Four Tet - I can't think of a better late night. Danceable and smart. A- Japandroids - Big, dumb rock hooks are almost always better live. B+ Death Grips - Feels like a great punk rock show. They never pause for a second. A Killer Mike - He loves performing, and a doubt he's ever met a crowd he couldn't win over. B+ Reptar - Weak songs, but they're a fun, jammy dance band live. B Futurebirds - They play up their hazy psych side live, which is a good thing. B+ JEFF the Brotherhood - Great chemistry, nice combo of stoner punk and Hawkwind psych. A- Wu-Tang Clan - Everyone gets to do their hits, and they all still bring it. A-
Wilco - City Stages (Birmimgham) 2009 - Great music, excellent show. I wasn't a fan before this show, and didn't really know much about the band, but this show hooked me. Very much looking forward to seeing them again. A+
ZZ Top - BamaJam 2008 - Meh. I've always liked their music, and it sounded fine I guess, but it wasn't anything special. I could've been sitting at campsite listening to them on the radio for all I cared. B-
Gov't Mule - BamaJam 2008 and several City Stages appearances - Always a great show. A
Del McCoury - BamaJam 2008 - Great live bluegrass performance. A
Wilco: A+: Seen them countless times and they always put on a great show. Pretty Lights: B: Like most edm for me. Fun for a few songs, then time to move on. The XX: C-: I enjoyed their first album, but their show nearly put me to sleep. Grizzly Bear: B: Hard to grade because Karen O ruined their set for me yelling on Which in 09. Thus, their sound can be overwhelmed by other stages. Nas: B+: Has a strong voice and stage presence in a live setting. Should be a quality rap act. Beach House: A-: I really enjoy this band's music. They sound great live but could be slow if not in the right mind set. Gov't Mule: C: Lots of talent. But the sound becomes rather redundant after a while. I enjoy their show but am always glad it's over. Portugal. The Man: A-: They have a lot of fun on stage and the crowd is great. Local Natives: A+: Excellent live execution and sound. Trombone Shorty: A-: Extremely fun show and dance party Divine Fits: Inc.: I haven't actually seen them live, but Spoon is tight and professional. Japandroids: B: Good rock show at roo a couple of years ago Araabmuzik: B+: watching him play live is hypnotic Milo Greene: A-: One of my favorite shows at Bottletree last year. A little raw. Lord Huron: B+: This should be a great set a Bonnaroo. Presentation was rather subdued, which is to be expected. Futurebirds: C: Seen them three different times. Hit or miss.
Passion Pit - Meh Gaslight Anthem - Seen them a few times, like the old stuff, great energy Baroness - EPIC live band. Super high energy and very tight Swans - Dudes are old. Dudes are loud. I grinned from ear to ear the entire show. Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit - Seen him three times and all three shows were excellent. Great guitarist and a smattering of DBT tunes to boot.
Holy crap, I've barely seen any of the lineup. I've seen close to 3,000 shows so this is saying something. Cheers to Bonnaroo, I'm stoked.

as well:
Mumford and Sons Seen them three times so far. Was amazing every time really, only complaint was that I saw them back to back nights and they played almost the exact same set...not just like the same songs I get that, but almost the exact same set list to
Of Monsters and Men Absolutely fantastic live. Great sing alongs and amazing energy. Def will be going to their full set at Roo this year.
Walk the Moon Caught them at Firefly last year. Was really really surprised by how much I enjoyed the set. John Legend was playing at the same time though so I'm pretty sure everyone who wanted to just dance and party was at the Walk the Moon set and they def fed off the crowds energy the entire show. Very fun.
Futurebirds First show I ever saw at my first Roo. Wanted to see them on the farm so bad again so I'm thrilled they are back. Just a super fun dance-esc folk Americana band.
Pretty Lights Caught him right after Bassnectar I believe 2 Roo's ago. I was pretty drunk so I don't really remember it, except I'm pretty sure we walked back to camp when the sun was coming up, and by walked back I mean did the WOMP WOMP dance all the way back because we did it straight for 5 hours so why the hell not continue?
Gov't Mule I mean, It's Warren...the guys freaking incredible
ZZ TOPFreedom hall in Louisville, KY. Saliva opened for them. Its a 3 piece band and they used small combo amplifiers. Had the loudest sound I've ever heard and it was clean sounding too, not overly distorted. Got to sit front row. Learned how to play "Heard it on the X" just by watching his hand on the guitar.
WILCO Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. The Latebirds opened for them. There's like 10 people in Wilco's band. Mr. Cline is a monster on the guitar. They have countless hit songs that tell a story and they are great rock band.
GOVT MULE Bonnaroo 2009- Awesome Show - Haynes is an absolute virtuoso guitarist.

Billy Idol - Saw him at Lolla back in 05 or something. His set was a ton of fun. I remember the hits and he had a lot of interaction with the crowd. Steve Stevens was back playing lead guitar and he was awesome too. All and all a great show. I skipped Primus to get a good spot for Pixies and it turned out to be a really solid choice. If conflict free, I'd see him again. Not really a show I feel strongly about seeing again though.
