I don't think buyers should have to pay more because their servers can't handle the volume. Here's my plan. Tier 1 pricing is open only for the pre-sale day back in November. Everyone buying that day gets that price. Tier 2 is for the first day of regular season sales. Everyone gets that price who buys on Day 1. Tier 3 is for the rest of February after opening day sales. Everyone pays Tier 4 after February. Just seems more fair to the people who make it happen (us!) and easier on their servers
I got lucky and got two tier 2 tickets. Was stuck in the waiting room and had about 5 disconnects. Didn't look at the exact time my purchase went through, but I'd estimate it to be about 12:07. It really is ridiculous they can't get servers to handle this though, it's not like they don't know what the demand is going to be.

My guess is that they try to balance the cost of upgrading their technology (or finding a new vendor) with the expense of losing revenue. They probably figure that they might only lose a couple of hundred people who get so turned off by the experience that they decide not to go to the festival. Meanwhile they can probably still sell those tickets to somebody else without having to spend the additional money.

Sure...but don't think that stops them from putting a price squeeze on the vendor, a la: "Look, your performance this year was horrible. Servers up and down, customers complaining…completely unacceptable. If you want to keep this job, you better prove you want it…" etc., etc. Probably in much nicer language than that, but even still…
Purchased my VIP tix tonight. 6th year of attendance. Was hesitant at first, but I had a few drinks and just went for it. It's a decision I will never regret.
VIP Payment Plan tix obtained without issue. A nice change from the pulling-my-hair-out ridiculousness of last year.
I bought my VIP tix yesterday, but my card was charged full price, plus I have scheduled monthly payments until May for an additional 1200 or so...I have no idea what happened. I noticed the payment plan purchase screen was different this year, and you had to select a la carte (i.e., 2 VIP tickets, 2 payment plans) - did anyone else experience any issues with purchasing the payment plan? I emailed the Music Today ppl, so we'll see what happens...
Going to buy payment plan this week or the next most likely. Any idea what the prices are each month?
Edit: $52
I'll be looking to do the same.
This is my first year even really looking for tickets - does anyone have any idea how quickly the price level 4 tickets typically sell out?
I could sign up for the payment plan now, but ideally (and if tickets don't normally sell out too quickly) I'd like to wait a couple weeks and just pay for them all at once.

I actually made the same mistake. You don't choose the VIP tix AND the payment plan, just the payment plan. I did that the first time and thankfully my bank declined it. It was confusing. I would definitely call them ASAP before you're charged any more.

Yea that's exactly what happened- definitely confusing, I don't remember last year's being setup that way- it was definitely more user friendly. Thankfully I was able to get it fixed right away- I ended up calling the tix number and they were able to reverse out the tickets (an extra 1500 bucks!!), so yea to say the least I'm relieved - the Music Today ppl were really helpful. At least I know I'm not the only one that didn't think it was intuitive...

You'll be fine. It never sells out until May and Roo will issue a ticket warning about a week before they announce the sell out. I've seen other board members say Bonnaroo never truly sells out in terms of number of people in attendance; they just say it's sold out when they can't handle shipping everyone their tickets before the fest starts.
And tier four is the highest tier so you don't have to worry about the price going up.
Help the email account I bought my Roo tickets on has been shut down... Why I'm really not sure.... Hacked maybe.. But I don't know what to so about emails from Bonnaroo now.. Advice?

Give them a call. They can probably just switch it to a new email.
