What with all the crazy shootings that have been going on for the past year; i can admit to having a little paranoia concerning large groups of people. I went to 'roo last year and had a BLAST. I felt extremely safe, but the security and volunteers were kind of lax about checking our cars and bags going into centeroo. Can anyone ensure if this will be more thorough? Not trying to ruin anyone's fun, I just want to know that no one can sneak a weapon of any kind, especially now, and that a closer eye can be watched on this. This literally depends on buying my ticket. Any comment will help!
I was just wondering when paranoia season would begin. It's my favorite time of the year! The flood waters will wash away all the guns. Tornados will stop terrorism.
First, welcome to the board. Second, weapons of any kind are banned at Bonnaroo. I do not know what you are looking for, but they are not going to start stripping down cars looking for weapons. If someone really wants to bring one in, they will, just like all of the other items on the banned list that are there every year.
Well, obviously. I meant more along the lines of being possessed by the general population.
Sorry; I didn't mean that sarcastically. It's just that I think a firearm is about the worst thing it's possible to introduce into a crowd control situation, regardless of who's carrying it. It'd suit me just fine if NOBODY at Roo was packing, not even the LEOs.
Funny story, though…the first year I went through search & seizure on the way into the farm, Metallica/2008, the guys doing the search seemed particularly concerned to make sure I wasn't smuggling any hammers in.
"You get many hammer fights at Bonnaroo?" I asked.
They shrugged and went on searching. I didn't have a hammer, myself, but who needs one when you've got a tire iron?

It's all good. I agree with your point totally though. I'd feel just as secure if the law enforcement on the Farm was unarmed. Can't really see a situation where they'd need their sidearm.
I think it was 2008, a rv next to ours going through the "Line-Up" was taken apart, dismantled,..because the driver made a off comment about his guns and what-not, and yes, this group of festival people had a arsenal of weapons, and yes, they went to jail, and did not attend Bonnaroo,..if you are worried about the slip thru...and you have panic in your heart that this could happen...well, it could, it could happen anywhere, anytime, to anyone and it does...I refuse to stop living and enjoying life, I will not live in fear of what if's and what might happen, with that being said, I do understand...sadly enough the world we live in today is not a kind world...but, I will not give up going to Bonnaroo. It's my right! In all the years I have gone, I have really not seen a harsh word between anyone.
