Last year I remember someone talking about exchanging beer cans and pop bottles for cool shiz at the merchandise tent. Is this really a thing? If so what kind of stuff can you exchange for and how many cans does it take?

They have a lot of stuff from cds to tshirts of bands and some bigger prizes too. They have had different stuff every year I've noticed them there, so it will differ depending on what they can get. You bring bags of stuff (like the big blue recycling bags they give you at the gate) that can be recycled and trade it in for points towards merchandise. They also have smaller bags if you are willing to pick up cigarette butts. I've never done it, but I would imagine you could get a ton of stuff if you hit the What stage after the headliner each evening or hit the tents after the closer while the headliner is going on. But if I remember correctly, it takes quite a lot of bags to get a lot of valuable stuff.
