I usually camp, but this year I am thinking about going the hotel/shuttle route. Has anyone ever stayed at the Select Inn or the Executive Inn (Bonnaroo's packages from their website)? Any reviews? There's a $300 different in the two.
Yes, I know... camping is the only way to go at Bonnaroo... but for those going the hotel route, any thoughts on these two specific hotels?
That's what I was thinking... I just hope Select Inn is not infested by bed bugs, etc. Surely Bonnaroo wouldn't partner up with a hotel that bad, though. I shouldn't have ever read the review on the hotel because it has me second guessing myself. ha One person said their car was broken into.... but, of course, that could happen anywhere.

Have you experienced the camping conditions? I'm not sure if Bonnaroo minds a few bugs in your bed.
Maybe they will have Bonnaroo themed room: -Instead of carpet, there will be dirt and trampled grass. -Instead of a bed, a tent in the middle of the room. Instead of a bathroom, a Gatorade bottle, baby wipes and Gold Bond. There will be Portos outside for the ladies. -Instead of bed bugs, real bugs.
Along with all these great features, all rooms will be wired with speakers that cannot be turned off. These speakers will be broadcasting live sounds from the GA czmping area at Bonnaroo, including the far off sounds of Animal Collective ripping it up until 6am, random passer-bys talking about bathsalts, while others shout out "Backscratcher!", or ask if you are into fitness, and the sound of your neighbours having loud, drunken sex.
I am pulling a solo this year and typically go with a group of friends (in several cars - which means lots of space). I thought it would be easier this year just to get a hotel and shuttle there and back rather than have to worry about cramping into a small spot with a solo tent. I think I'm going to try it this year and then return to camping next year when my friends can return. There's no way I can miss Bjork, Alt-J, and Co. this year!

Let me preface this by saying that I've been in the hotel industry for eighteen years so I maybe take this a bit more seriously than your average Roo goer:
Trip Advisor's usually a pretty decent reference tool for hotels. You get actual get comments and such:
The Executive Inn appears to be pretty close to the bottom of the barrel (26th out of 30 hotels), though it only has three reviews so that's not a great sample size. (One Very Good and two Terribles.)
"Roaches. Bedbugs. No towels No ice machine.Mice. Drug use/ sales out in public. Very unsafe. Not a safe place......Front desk people were unprofessional...rude....cursing......night front desk only helpful person......Dont not stay here"
"Roaches. Prostitutes. Drug use/sale out in public. Very unsafe. Not a safe neighborhood. Not a safe hotel."
Not promising. I'd say go with the Select Inn. The recent reviews are largely positive, they're going through a renovation and, most important, management cares enough about their image to respond to reviews.
